Chapter Name: Bad News , Long Night (pt. i)
Nick sighed. An hour had gone by since he had woken up. He hasn't gotten up from his bed though. He was rather lazy to do so. The ravenette had to admit, it didn't take much for him to get up and start his day. Darryl or Zak could bring in a large pancake or waffle and Nick would immediately shoot up and devour the food. Clay or some of his other friends could simply just barge in and he would be happy. Or instead of his friends, it could be Wilbur. God how much Nick hoped...wished that Wil would just randomly show up at his house, knocking at the front door. Waiting for Darryl to answer. But of course, that wouldn't happen. There wasn't a reason why he would come over. Nick knew that. Or, that's what he personally believed.
Downstairs, Zak started to grow worried. Yeah it had taken Nick a while to get up from his bed in the morning. But it only ever took around thirty to forty minutes, depending on how he felt that morning. He never stayed in bed for longer than fifty minutes, at least. Both Darryl and Zak knew was that if it took longer for Nick to get up from bed, then something really. . .really wrong must've happened, will happen, or he's overthinking once again. The couple knew their son a lot, they basically knew everything about their son. Of course they did, they were his parents. And they tried their best, succeeding, in keeping Nick from closing himself off and losing their bond with him when he became a teenager. It was rather normal around the SMP for kids to completely shut themselves off, grow distant, and just not give a shit once they turned thirteen. Only getting worse when they grew older and older.
Of course, it happened a lot in other places. However, it was more often in the SMP. Darryl and Zak were basically lucky to have Nick still be open to them and telling them whenever something went wrong. So, knowing his son, Zak pulled out the freshly made waffles that Darryl had made from scratch. He grabbed a plate and placed three waffles onto it, pouring syrup over them. He knew just how much syrup Nick loved on his waffles. Slightly more than the amount he puts on his pancakes. Zak walked up the stairs and headed towards Nick's bedroom, knocking on the door instead of barging in like how Darryl does most of the time. He didn't hear anything for a few minutes. So he knocked again. "It's open!", Zak opened the bedroom door, seeing the young ravenette laying on his bed. An expressionless look on his face as he stared up at the ceiling.
"I've brought you some waffles, in case you've gotten hungry," Zak spoke. A small smile on his face as he placed the plate down on the nightstand. Nick turned his head to look at the waffles, letting out a little, satisfied huff. Looking up at Zak, smiling up at him. "Thanks, dad.." Nick said.
"Are you alright? You've been up here for slightly over an hour," the older ravenette asked. Nick looked back up at the ceiling, shrugging.
"I guess you could say I'm doing okay. There isn't a reason why I'm still laying here. Nothing happened if you're wondering. I'm just...bored," Nick responded. Zak nodded, understanding what the boy was saying. "Where's papa?"
"He's out getting things to make muffins for later. He was in a hurry so he couldn't come up here to check on you in the morning. Don't see why Bad thinks baking muffins is so important, they're just muffins!" Zak exclaimed. Nick giggled, sitting up and grabbing the plate. Zak turned to look at the boy when he heard an annoyed grunt. "What? Something wrong with the waffles?"
"You forgot the hot chocolate..." Nick whined, making a little noise and face as if he was going to start crying. Zak sighed, shaking his head. He laughed, patting the boy's leg and getting up. "So sorry my prince, I'll go make you your hot chocolate," Zak said. The smaller ravenette began to giggle even more, holding onto his stomach as it began to hurt.
