Chapter 12

~Madeline's POV~

"Is she okay what's going on?" I asked Matt as I walked over to him.

"She's recovering right now." Matt said.

"Can we go see her?" I asked.

"They said she didn't want to see anyone." He said.

"Then why are you still here Matt?" I asked, sitting down.

"I want to see her. I need her. I'm not ready to go back to that house." He said.

"Come stay with us." I said.

"I don't know." He said.

"Matt you need sleep. Let's go." I said.

He nodded, standing up. He looked like a mess. I drove him to my house and I let him in the guest bedroom, hoping for him to get sleep.

As soon as he walked in the guest room I grabbed my keys again.

"Where to now?" Zach asked.

"I'm going to see why she doesn't want any visitors." I said.

"Let me go with. I'm her brother Madeline." He said.

I nodded as we drove to the hospital.

"Hi, name please?" A nurse asked.

"Madeline Smith and Zach Cortez. We're here for Sara Cortez." I said.

"Okay, she's in room 302." She said.

How could they not let Matt in? There had to have been something going on.

We walked in and she was awake, watching TV.

"Sara." I said, walking in.

"Oh. Hi." Sara said.

"Whats going on?" I asked.

"I just got shot Madeline." She said.

"I know, but why don't you want Matt here?" I asked.

"I want him to be safe. I'm no good." She said.

"You are good." I said.

"I miss him." She said.

"Then see him Sara. He's a mess without you." I said.

"How are we going to survive this? Val's crazy. She almost killed me." She said.

"Val's going to prison Sara." I said.

"Really?" She asked.

"Really. Now do you want me to call Matt over here?" I asked.

"Yes." She said.

I nodded, grabbing my phone out and called Matt.

"Where are you?" Matt answered.

"Chill. I'm at the hospital. Sara wants to see you." I said.

"Really?" He asked.

"Yes now get over here giant." I said.

"Okay." He said.

I hung up, turning my attention to Sara.

"You guys are gonna be okay." I said with a smile.

"I hope so." Sara said.

Matt came in faster than I expected.

"Sara?" He said, rushing in.

"Hi." She said.

I looked at Zach, motioning him to leave the room with me.

~Sara's POV~

"Why didn't you want to see me?" Matt asked.

"I thought Val would still be out there." I said.

"She's in prison. For good." He said.

"Good. I love you." I said.

"I love you too." He said, kissing me.

Everything was gonna be alright.
