“Didi, didi app na, bas kuch bhi karke jaldi yaha aa jaye, yaha bahut kuch ho gaya hai!!”
“Are are shant ho jao, aur mujhe batao kya huva hai.”
“Mai phone pe nahi bata sakta didi, aap bas jald se jald aa jao.”
“Are baba thik hai mai aati hu. Par pata hai na mujhe kam se kam 3 mahine lagege.”
“Haa didi pata hai, ab main rak ta hu, mujhe jana hoga.”
“Thik hai, apna khayal rakhna, aur sab ka bhi.”
The phone call ends
3 ½ months later
A girl arrives at her destination and looks up, seeing the image she has seen since her childhood made her feel nostalgic. She sighed tiredly and started taking steps ahead. Reaching the door she saw what might be her reason to return.
She saw TRC Binoy and Anirudh having a fight about something, she even saw Som, Batuk and Saudamini standing there, but then she notices a small girl, same age as Batuk looking down and almost in the state of crying. Not knowing what to do, she gathered some courage and went inside and said, “kaka, baba, kese ho aap sab?” Hearing this everyone turned towards the voice.
Seeing that girl inside the house TRC shouted, “tumhari himmat kese hui wapis iss ghar mein aane ke?” Binoy joined him and said, “haa yaha kyun aai ho tum? Ek dukh kafi nahi tha?” Hearing all this she looked at them with teary eyes and said, “kaka, aap toh mujse issliye gussa hai na ke main ghar se bhag gai? Per mai wapas bhi toh aa gayi hu, beti nahi atithi ke tarah aane dijiye mujhe. Main kaha jaugi abhi?”
Som joined in saying, “kaka didi kafi dur se aai hai, aur kuch dino ke liye rehne dijiye na, fir agar aapko na thik lage toh wo dusre ghar chali jaye ge. Abhi lamba safar kar ke aai hai woh toh umko aane dijiye.” Hearing all this Binoy said, “tumhe kaise pata? Kya tum isse mere mana kar ne ke baad bhi baat kar te the?”
Som looked down in guilt and seeing this Binoy said, “bas yahi dekhna baki reh gaya tha! Bade bete ko fitoor chada hai aur dusre bete toh apne maa ki khuni se bhi baat kar ta hai!” TRC hearing the last sentence, “bas karo Binoy, usne kuch nahi kiya-” Binoy cuts him off and says, “maaf kijiye aap ki baat katne ke liye, par hum iske baare mai phele bhi baat kar chuke hai, mai ab iss bare mai kuch nahi bolu ga.” Saying this Binoy left the scene.
TRC sighed knowing his younger brother won’t hear him so he turned towards the girl and said, “Aahi tum under aa sakti ho, per srif kuch dino ke liye tum reh sakti ho yaha, kyunki tum ne dekh hi liya hoga, kisiko tumhari zaroorat nahi hai.” Aahi smiled and said, “kuch din he kafi hai, dhanyavad kaka.” TRC just hmms and says, “Bihari iska saman uske kamre mai rak va do.” Commanding Bihari what to do, TRC went to his room.
Aahi enters the living room and seeing Anirudh she says, “dada-” but Anirudh turns around and goes towards his room, Batuk follows him and goes to his room and even Saudamini leaves from there. Aahi sighed and turned towards Som and said, “kaise oh chote bhai?” Som smiled and came forward and touched her feet and said, “main thik hu didi, aap kaise ho? Baba aur kaka ke baato ka bura mat mana.”
Aahi smiled hearing this and said, “are bilkul bura nahi mana, gushaa he sahi, kuch toh hai umko mere liye. Aacha ye sab chodo ye batao, tumne mujhe yaha kyun bulaya?” Som sighs and turns to a direction, Aahi follows that and saw Som is looking at the girl she saw earlier. She saw that the girl was hesitant to meet her as the conversation before had scared her, so instead of going near her she said, “toh Som kon hai ye?”
Som sighed before saying what he was about to say and said “phele kamre mein chalye aap ke.” Aahi followed Som confused about why he didn’t introduce her to that girl. Seeing this new person confused Bondita as well, she sees Bihari who just came back from Aahi’s room to take her luggage and asks, “Bhari babu, ye didi kaun hai? Aur kaka sasur ji aur sasur ji itne guhsaa kyun hai? Birristara babu ne bhi umse baat nahi ke, esa kyu?”
Bihari smiled and answered, “oh Aahi malkin, woh na Anirudh malik ke judvaa behen hai, woh abhi videsh se aai hai wapis.” Bondita looks at him and asks, “toh kaka sasur ji ne aisa kyun kaha ke woh bhag gai thi?” Bihari sighed and said, “ab woh sab aap malik se puchiye ga, par abhi kuch nahi puch na, nahi toh aap pe gussa nikal dege sab.”
Bondita nodded understanding, even she understood this is not the right time to ask anyone about the didi who just entered. She then started to go to the kitchen, knowing kaka sasur ji will shout at her if she doesn’t learn how to cook any sooner.
In Som’s Room
Som and Aahi settled down and Som said, “woh jo Batuk ke age ki ladki thi, woh humari boudi hai. Dada ne umse shaadi karli hai.” Hearing the words Aahi got up in shock and said, “tum ye kya bol rahe ho Som, ye mazak ka waqt nahi hai!!” Som continued “maine isliye aapko bula ya tha, maine jis raat aap ko call kiya tha, wahi raat dada boudi se shaddi kar ke aaye the.”
Aahi, letting in what she just heard asked, “per dada ne aisa kyun kiya?” Som then tells her everything from the start. Aahi sighs and says, “at least dada ne uski jaan bachai. Par mai jab aaye toh sab jhagada kyun rahe the?”
Som then explains the current situation as well making Aahi sighed and say, “ab samajh aaya tum mujhe kyun bula rahe the.” They both were silent for some while when a knock on the door cut the silence. It was Bihari who said, “Aahi malkin aap ka kamra saaf ho gaya hai.”
Aahi smiled and said, “are Bihari babu, kaise hai aap? Srif telephone pe bate hoti thi aapse.” Bihari smiled and replied, “main ekdam badiya hu, aap kaisi ho?” Aahi smiled and answered, “dekho, ekdam badiya!” Bihari smiles happily and says, “thik hai aap Som malik se baat kijiye main jata hu.”
Aahi nodded and Bihari went away. Aahi sighed and said, “ab jo ho gaya woh ho gaya, par tumne mujhe bula kar bahut acha kiya, nahi toh woh ba- I mean boudi nahi re pati sabke saath, itni choti hai woh ghar kaise sambhale gi?” Som nodded in agreement and said, “aapko thodi der aaram kar na chahiye, aap thak gai hogi.” Aahi nodded and said, “tum theek keh rahe ho Som, main jake aaram kar te hu.” Som nodded and Aahi left his room.
Reaching her room, Aahi looked around and saw that her room was the same as she had left before. She smiled looking at her things and sat on the bed and started thinking about the things she just learned. She sighed and murmured, ‘what all has happened in just a few months.' Tired, she decided to take some rest and went to sleep.
