A lot of the times I hope that people really had something they put their passion and pain and fear and everything into, because God, what a feeling.

For me, dancing was freeing.

I could let myself be who I am with no judgement; dance was art, and that's all it was. I wasn't suddenly "unmanly" for liking dance. People who think that are honestly ridiculous.

Tight rope walking
Fire breathing
I'm losing sight of you again tonight

I let my hand circle my head, turning once in place and resolved into a strong stance, eyes following the beautiful blue sky above. My monastery room was much too small to dance in and lacked the connection to the earth, so I opted for the training courtyard instead. Though a public space, the courtyard was perfect.

I let go. I moved, tracing the perimeter with leaps and spins and God I was flying, bordering the limits of my very being.

I'm sleep walking
Trapeze falling
I'm losing sight of you again tonight

In the process of letting go, somehow, my mind lets go too.

Now that you're gone I can breathe again
I won't back down this time

That hurt. Those lyrics, simplicity. The situation, though. It reminded me of her. I had watched her, eyes half-lidded as she slipped through a door I would have never seen her walk back into.

She was gone, but I could breathe again.

I settled once again into standing, but this time following the ground, the earth.

Tight rope walking
Fire breathing

My movements become more desperate, laden with reaches and retracts, hope and failure.

I'm losing sight of you again tonight

She was leaving.

I'm sleep walking

I couldn't get up.

Trapeze falling

I couldn't get to her

I'm losing sight of you again tonight

The storm amulet and the wave amulet had burned bright in the dark of that day, but I couldn't see her.

Again tonight

The wretched amulet...

Again tonight

How could two simple things in the hands of a snake riding another snake destroy us so much?

Again tonight

The storm and wave amulets...

Again tonight

The storm amulet-

"Jay?"

"Ack!"

Kai's voice startled me out of my dancing, and I lost focus and fell onto the hard stone floor.

The song finished with me on the ground, knees bruised from landing improperly. I looked up to Kai and stared at him pointedly.

"Jay, are you alright?" he asked, offering his hand. I took it, and then pulled him down with me, and he squeaked very unmanly...ly?

"You ruined my moment, dude!" I tried not to smile through my feigned anger.

"Jeez, it was an accident! I didn't know that you were doing... whatever you were doing. It looked cool, though." He ran a hand through his hand, awkwardly chuckling.
