Day to night
Dark to light
Fall the sands of time

Let the years, like the gears
Of a clock unwind.
In your mind
Walk through time

Back to better days
Memories
like a dream
Wash tears away

Like a star in the sky
Darkness can't reach you
Like the night
Joy is light

'till the new dawn

Cast away your old face
Let go your spite
With this mask
I'll ask to borrow your light.

That was the lullaby that stayed to you ever since you were six. After being adopted by a lovely couple that lives somewhere on top of a hill that's surrounded by trees but with civilization 30 minutes away.

You loved your foster parents and they returned the same love you gave them. Even though you weren't blood related, you were a family.

Yet, you never understood who you are.

That time where you asked your mother why they adopted you. The answer was something a six year old can't understand.

Your mother is infertile. That was the answer they have given you.

You have zero knowledge on how you got to the doorstep of your parents. They didn't know as well.

For as long as you can remember, you had a hard time with sleep. If you did, you would end up getting nightmares. It was a roller coaster of fear and tiredness. Your mother noticed, so she would sing a lullaby as she plays with her instrument, the Lyre.

It piqued your interest and wanted to learn so she taught you. From then on, you would play the lyre and sing the lullaby and it helped you have a good night's rest ever since.

When you were ten years old.. you heard your mother and father arguing.

Your father was groveling, your mother was crying. You stood against the door of your bedroom, also crying as this was the first time they had a big fight and it was not the usual silent treatment and simple words.

The next thing you saw as you open the door, it was your mother.

Laying on the floor

Blood coming out of her lower part of her body.

Your father was in a state of panic.

He carried your mother and the smell of blood and hospital never left your nose.

As you were left at home to sleep, you had a dream.. or is it a nightmare?

You couldn't tell

But it was enough to help you create a journey with events you never expected.
