{ Scene 10: Truth in the Stars }
"Does anyone have a protractor I could borrow?" you asked, eyes flickering over the kitchen table littered in piles of papers and heavy heads.
Kaminari smeared his face further into his textbook. "I dunno, ask one of the smarty pants here," he groaned through his mop of hair.
"I could try and make one for you," Momo suggested. "But it won't be perfectly accurate unfortunately. I'm not the best with making exact measurements..."
She rifled through her purse. "I usually carry a math set with me... Shoot, I must've forgotten it back at home. Sorry... does anyone else have one?" She turned back to the group, her pearl earrings jingling with the swing of her clean ponytail.
Jiro shook her disheveled boyfriend from his pillow of textbook pages. "Wake up, you dummy. We've got work to do. And I swear I gave you my protractor the other week, look through your bag," she said.
As the boy rolled over the edge of the table, fumbling through his bag, Mina peered over your shoulder, carrying a pot of coffee.
"Hey hon, what are you lookin' for?" she asked, filling the empty mugs on the table. She quickly muttered to Momo that her lavender-mint tea was ready.
"...A protractor," you sighed. "I'm working on the design for the hero student association banner. They want it done by Friday. I was planning on finishing it up tonight, but I left my sketching tools back at the apartment..."
"You busy bee," she hummed. "Taking on all this extra work and planning, never giving yourself a break."
"Well, someone's got to design the banner... It's important – for us, and our school, I mean."
Mina smiled. "And you're just the right person for the job. Can't wait to see what you and your creative little brain come up with," she said, bringing the pot back to the kitchen.
Taking a much-needed sip of coffee, Midoriya chimed in. "The logo you designed for our program's merch last semester was amazing! Everyone was wearing those hoodies on campus for weeks. Whatever you come up with is going to be great, I just know it," he rambled excitedly.
You muttered your appreciation, a bashful hike in your shoulders.
"I – uh, I unfortunately don't have a protractor for you though.... Kacchan broke mine last week," he added through a shuffle of green curls.
Sero shrugged. "I don't have one either. I'm not in math this year. What about you 'Roki?"
Todoroki hummed, clicking away on his calculator. "Bakugo also broke my protractor."
"No way, not you too!" Midoriya groaned.
"Geez, it looks like Kacchan's been on a murderous rage for everyone's protractors," Kaminari added smugly.
Jiro rolled her eyes. "It's not like you're any better. You lost the one I lent you."
"Aww, come on Jiro, it's not lost! It's, uh, somewhere..."
This hunt for a protractor didn't seem to be going anywhere. Maybe the angles of your project would have to wait until tomorrow. But there was still so much to do. Font to decide, scaling calculations, color scheme –
There was a hand on your shoulder. "You could ask Blasty himself, maybe he's got one laying around somewhere," Mina mentioned. "Him and Kirishima are upstairs. Why don't you give yourself a little break and go check with them?"
