Hi! My name is Mirana Jane Patterson and I am 15. I have an older brother, Luke. He is 17, and so are Alex, Reggie and Bobby. We were all in a band: Sunset Curve. Now, Luke, Alex, Reggie and I are in a new group: Julie and the Phantoms! Oh, that reminds me! We are ghosts. We died in 1995, it is now 2020. Crazy, I know! Bobby is really old now, but we don't talk about him.

Anyway, my story starts in 1980, the year I was born. More specifically, December 15th 1980. I don't remember this nor the next year, but I do remember the year after that, the year I turned 2. This was the year both Luke and I fell in love with music. Ever since then, we have both wanted to be in a rock band of our own. Sorry, did I not mention we fell in love with rock music?

When I was 6, I had my first guitar. I was so happy. Like Luke's, it was an electric guitar. He had a red guitar and I had a purple one. We love those guitars, we actually still have them.

The first person we met was Reggie. At that time, it was just him and Alex. He played bass, while Alex played the drums. Luke and I were walking around the playground with our guitars attached to our backs. We were still getting used to the school, it was our first week. Reggie bumped into me, literally. He saw the guitars and asked us if we could play. Once we said we could, he brought us over to Alex and we had our band. Bobby joined a few years later. We would rehearse pretty much every day.

It was a normal, boring day at school. I was sitting in French. I never listened, I never wanted to learn French, so I didn't see the point of learning it. I started to doodle in my book. That's all that was in it. For a few weeks, we have been trying to come up with a name for our band. I heard the teacher talk about a sunset and a curve. "Sunset Curve"? I started to sketch different things for the logo. Eventually, I settled on one of the designs. Once the class was over, I took the book and ran to Luke.

'Luke!' I was panting a little.

'What's the rush for, Ana?'

'I think I have a name and logo for us!'

'Really? Let's see, then!' I showed him the drawing. 'You are a genius! We have to show the others!' We ran over to their lockers and told them there was a band meeting. 'Mirana is a genius! Look!' He showed them the book. 'Gentlemen, we now have a band name!' They all loved it. I was so happy. We were finally an official band. We have bounced around with a few ideas in the past (pun intended) but none of them seemed to stick. Luckily, this one did.

When the bell rang, we raced to the bus and went to our studio. It was just a garage that one of Alex's friends let us use. We worked on a few songs before the boys had to go shopping. I didn't want to go, so I stayed back. This gave me the perfect opportunity to finish some songs Luke had started. I often did this, it confuses the boys. I got my guitar and flipped through my brother's book. Luckily, I only have to hear a tune once to memorise it. I can also play that tune on any instrument.
