now back at the palace, jisung sighed letting his back hit his mattress. believe it our not, he was actually thinking about chaewon. honestly, he couldn't even believe it himself that he was thinking about her.
'why did you call her a bitch, dumbass' he smacked his head with his pillow as he thought about how he talked to her.
jisung didn't want to be rude to her. he didn't want to hate her. it was just really hard for him to like the idea of soulmates while he looked at what happened to his parents. the two of them didn't even like each other, so how could jisung guarantee the same wouldn't happen for him and his soulmate?
the boy groaned as his hand roamed around looking for his phone, until he heard a knock on his bedroom door, revealing a palace guard.
"good evening sir. the king would like to see you, thank you." the man bowed quickly, before ushering down the hall.
"shit," jisung muttered, trudging up the grand staricase towards his father's office. the thing is that he was never close with his father, considering that he was busy with all his duties as the king. really, jisung despised talking to his father, since most of the time it was about telling him what he did wrong.
looking around the hallway, jisung still found the armors lining the walls kind of creepy. the wing where the king worked with his council was the oldest, least modernized part of the entire interior, and the prince wasn't quite used to it.
jisung took a deep breath before knocking, already preparing himself for a scolding. he put all his brainpower into thinking what he did wrong, trying to possibly find an excuse for it, but, before he could think of why he's here, his eyes met those of his stone-faced father.
"hello, son." jisung only bowed and nodded in response to this, sitting down in the chair in front of the king's desk.
to an outsider, this looked more like a student-principal meeting, when in reality this is what most of the interactions between jisung and his dad were like. the aura in the room was more tense and business-like, weird as this was literally jisung's home.
'god, i felt more comfortable in that convenience store...' thought jisung as he glanced up at his father, who was shuffling through a pile of papers on his desk.
"so jisung, i heard some interesting news," the older man paused, observing his son's blank face, "that you met your soulmate. is this information correct?"
jisung hesitated, he didn't know what his dad would be doing with this knowledge. "um..." he saw hard eyes watching his every move. "no, i didn't."
jisung's father nodded and sent a polite smile towards jisung. "okay then, you may go."
the prince immediately stood up, astonished at how easily his father believed his lie. he didn't even ask for proof or ask how long he has left until his timer ends. that was a new experience for jisung, since his dad always had hundreds of questions to ask him.
