"what are you majoring in?"
the pair were currently sitting in jisung's foreign-brand car which he managed to sneak out from the palace thanks to mr. lim's help. chaewon was in the seat behind the driver's, where jisung had control of the wheel. the prince glanced back at her through the rearview mirror.
"political economics and music."
"music?" jisung watched chaewon tilt her head in curiosity, ignoring the growing feeling in his heart.
"it's one of my hobbies. kinda like the astronomy."
"ohh, that's cool. make sure to beat everyone in your classes!" chaewon exclaimed at the end, raising both of her fists.
a chuckle escaped the driver's lips at the girl's childish pep talk, but he couldn't lie that her excitement didn't make him a little happy.
"park jisung fightinggggg!"
"are you really this excited to get back to school?"
"yes, thank you so much dude, i love you for this. like you have no idea how much my friends have been pestering me to get back. and holy shit, my calculus teacher practically cussed me out in her emails because she already thinks i'm balls at math."
"we're here."
chaewon took that as a signal to stop her rambling since jisung was pulling into the vip entrance of the school. his arrival was expected, so the guards were standing with straighter posture than she had ever seen from them. even some royal guards were scattered around the area.
so much preparation for her soulmates arrival, yet here she was hiding at the back of his car in brace position. some things you just don't expect in life, do you? jisung let out a long sigh as he approached the gate, rolling down his window.
the head guard at this entrance was obviously feeling giddy, because his face was nearly the color of a newborn baby and he was practically jumping into his bow for jisung. after stuttering a welcome, he turned and opened the gate for the prince and his hidden plus one.
the inside of the vip parking was empty, not including the cars of some of the country's richest people's children. not that any of them were even in their cars. chenle also used this parking, being a year ahead of chaewon and now jisung. his tesla wasn't anywhere in sight at the moment, though.
chaewon and jisung took great care for the former to not be spotted so they waited a little for other people to exit their cars. although the coast was clear, jisung used his large frame to block chaewon from the view of anyone entering without her noticing.
the two entered the building together, luckily out of the view of everyone who was getting through security at the main entrance. so far chaewon had noticed that this part of campus was much cleaner than where she usually entered.
before wasting another second admiring the pleasures of being a vip, chaewon walked ahead quickly. she turned only to wave an excited goodbye at jisung, who sent her a small smile and wave.
the small stream of students that were already checked by security took no notice of chaewon as she blended into the rest of the crowd. the same couldn't be said for the person she wouldn't see until the end of the day.
being the prince, who was also coincidentally handsome, jisung obviously attracted quite a bit of attention. people were practically gawking at him as he walked into campus with his gaze following the girl that others didn't know he arrived with.
"oh my god, he's hot."
"dude that's the prince you don't have a chance."
"look! it's prince jisung!"
"wasn't he taking a gap year or something?"
"sheeeeeesh"
the boy didn't pay much attention to the conversations he was the subject of and simply continued walking forward. navigating wasn't hard as he'd been here before for countless reasons other than studying.
"JISUNGGGGIEEEEE!"
a second later jisung felt a slap on his back, but he was expecting it since the person responsible did scream out his name prior. now next to him was chenle, who attracted more stares due to his own admirers.
ignoring them, chenle leaned over and whispered in jisung's ear, despite there being a large gap between them and the rest of the students. "did she get in safely?"
"mhm. no one saw us so we're good. we have the same first class, right?"

"chaeee~ i missed youuu," hana cooed as the two girls walked into their first class together.
"i'm so happy you aren't sick anymore, like that wiped you out for almost 2 weeks, holy shit," obviously that was a lie, but over the weekend chaewon met up with hana and minji to tell them exactly what to say about her absence.
that was a good move, considering some of her classmates were looking at her now that she was back from her long absence, listening into her conversation too.
hana continued her act for the rest of the classes they had together and chaewon easily lied to her other friends who didn't know the true situation. the calculus teacher was as salty that chaewon was back as she was during her absence, yet still a small smile reached her lips as chaewon rambled about the work she did during her "sickness".
by now it was lunchtime and chaewon had a single class left and she recalled that jisung had two. ever since the two separated in the morning, they hadn't crossed paths since their schedules were completely different. jisung actually had lunch an hour ago.
chaewon had to admit, this felt odd since the two had spent the last two weeks in each other's presence, if not necessarily together. that made their bond feel stronger, this slight separation definitely having a noticeable feeling.
"min, stop looking at me like that, just say it," chaewon turned her head towards her best friend, who was now blushing in embarrassment.
"i didn't have anything to say i was just looking at you..."
"what- oh my gosh, is there something on my face??"
"nonono you look fine, don't worry-"
"hana, min's lying to me right? i swear she has to be."
"nah."
"oh." still, chaewon checked her reflection on the back of her spoon, but was disappointed realizing it was a plastic one, causing the other two to laugh.
"wowwwwww you put your trust into a spoon rather than us. all this soulmate stuff is making you forget about me and hana," minji sighed out dramatically, slumping down in her chair.
chaewon scoffed and made sure to treat the spoon very kindly for the rest of the meal, basically making it her new baby.
