Chapter 4 : Make a deal

Monday morning rolls around. Savannah have to go to work and face Lucas. She get dressed and ready to go. She arrives there, and enter Lucas's office. 
Lucas:"Thanks , Savannah. i appreciate everything that you've doen for me."
-"Um...you're welcome"
-"I need an other favor. An even bigger one this time. Zia and Paxton have decided to take a ten-day cruise for their honeymoon. And they've invited several powerful couples along, including us. I'm prepared to pay you one hundred thousand dollars for your time."
-"One hundred thousand dollars! I'm ready. Sign me up."
-"Wait a second. It's not that simple. But i'm glad you're so eager."
-"Well, i'm still ready."
-Just know that this charade will be trickier than the wedding. We'll have to play a couple 24\7. We'll also have to share a room. "
-"I don't think it'll be that big of a deal. We're both adults. I'm sure we can manage."
-"Good. There is one more thing though. i saw some of the pictures from the wedding... I noticed that Zia was looking at me. And Paxton called me to say that if there's anything going between me and Zia, he'll ruin me."
-"What does that mean?"
-"Paxton is a powerful man. He can tank Madison and Fitzhugh if he wanted to."
-"Whoa! The stakes are high. I'm... I can handle it."
-"You sound so confident."
-"Yes, i am."
-"I assume you'd want to draw up another contract?"
-"You assume correct."
Lucas smiles and that in turn makes Sav smiles too.
Sav:"i'm glad you find my need for paperwork amusing."
-"I'm charming, Savannah. Draw something up and we'll talk then."

Savannah reaches her home and calls Stacy for help with the contract. Both of them decide to meet at Stacy's apartment. After getting ready, she heads over to Stacy's place.

Stacy :"Okay, so explain this to me one more time."
-"Lucas asked me to pretend to be his girlfriend for his ex's wedding. And he paid me ten grand to do it. Now we got invited on a cruise together. And we have to play a couple the entire time."
-"Whoa..."
-"Yeah. We have to share a room and everything."
-"Oh, the hardship! You have to go on a luxury cruise with a hot man! LUCKYY!!"
-"It's not funny, Stacy. And you can't tell anyone."
-"Don't worry, Savannah. Don't you trust me?"
-"I trust you, Stacy."
-"Have i ever blabbed any of your secrets?"
-"Like there's so many..."
-"Point is , your secret's safe with me."
"I know you're the best."
Savannah and Stacy write up the contract.
Stacy:"You still look uncomfortable."
-"It's the whole 'fake-dating your boss for money' thing. I don't know it feels weird."
-"well, let's face facts, Savannah. You definitely need this money."
-"Yeah, i know."
-"So what's the hold up?"
Just then Sav gets a text from her mom; saying: "Sav, are you there? I'm behind on the mortgage. I'm gonna lose the house!"
"I'm so sorry , Mom."
"I'm at the end of my rope."
"It'll be okay. How long do you have to get the money together?"
"Till the end of the month."
"I'll see what i can do."
"Thank you , Savannah. I love you."
"Love you too."
Looks like she knows what she needs to do.

She arrives at Lucas's office_ contract in hand.
Lucas: "That was fast."
-"Well, the decision was kind of made for me."
-"How so?"
-"I just have a little financial trouble. It's my mother."
-"oh!"
-"My mother just told me that she's behind on her mortgage."
-"That's unfortunate."
-"She works so hard. Between alimony payments and caring for my sisters..."
-"She's at her limit? I totally understand since i didn't grow up wealthy. My parents worked two jobs each till my mum died. It's been my dad, and i, ever since."
Savannah's astounded. She didn't know Lucas came from such humble beginnings.
He continues :"I also went to college on scholarship."
-"Wow. I definitely though you were just some rich kid."
-"If all goes according to plan on this trip... I will make sure that your mother and sisters get to keep their house."
-"Oh! Thank you Lucas."
She doesn't know what comes over her. She throw her arms around Lucas and hug him hard.
Lucas: "But until then, we have to keep it professional."
-"Got it."
