December 23, 6:10 am
It's almost been two weeks since Rowan left with Lovey, she sent her resignation letter, gave me back the keys to my car and I think she's living with Jeanette now.
I never meant to say all those horrible things, it's like my defence mechanism is pushing people away, even if I don't want to, and even worse for me is that I see her everywhere. 2 days after she left I heard she took the modelling job, and now she's all over social media.
I keep beating myself up, why would I say that? What in God's name possessed me to say that? She was right there, happiness was right there and I just pushed her away like she was nothing. Why would I do that?
I wake up in my very empty house once again, to my phone ringing, I pick it up without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?" I say in a groggy voice.
"Oh did I wake you?" once I heard my mom's voice I quickly perked up. My mother is a very scary person, and it's best not to make conflict in any way shape or form.
"What! no, of course not, I was already up." I lie and thankfully she doesn't notice.
"Good, well you know your friend."
"Mom, I have a lot of friends, be specific please."
"You know, that girl from the party, what was her name?" my heart sank for a second, I've been trying to forget all about her but of course, the universe won't let me.
"You mean Rowan?" It's hard for me to say her name even now.
"Yes, that girl, I knew I remembered her the first time I saw her, you should invite her to our home for Christmas." I tried to make up an excuse, since I know I'm not going to be seeing Rowen anytime soon.
"Mom, she has a kid, so I don't think she'll be able to come." My mother gasps.
"That was unexpected, but her kid can come to I don't mind, why do you not want me to meet your girlfriend?" My eyes widen.
"Mom."
"What!? I just want to meet her." I internally curse myself, if I don't say yes now then she'll just bring it up another day. And then on her deathbed, she's going to shame me for not letting her meet Rowan, She's always so petty. I take in a silent deep breath.
"Okay fine," I say while rubbing my face, still tired.
"Great, thank you, baby."
"Bye," I say then she hangs up the phone. I checked the time and it was 6:22, I still have some time to sleep, so I laid back in bed and- my phone rings.
"For the love of God," I say trying not to rage.
"Hello," I say a little irritated now.
"Hey, you okay? you sound terrible." Noah says from the other side of the phone.
"I'm okay, what do you want?"
"Me, Nolan and Benji are going to an event, and since you can't seem to get your mind off of you-know-who, I thought maybe you would want to come this time." I sigh, cursing myself for what I'm about to say.
"Fine, I'll be there."
"Wait seriously? okay bet."
____
"Isaac, come on man, this is gonna be fun so stop sulking," Benji says
"That's easy to say when you're not depressed," I say getting out of the car and walking down the red carpet with Noah Benji Nolan.
"Come on man you're not depressed, that sounds a bit extreme." I stared at Nolan with a blank face and a dead look in my eyes.
"Ok, maybe you are."
"Guys just leave him to Wallow in his pathetic sadness," Noah said while winking at women and smiling with his pearly whites.
"What did you even say to her to make her that mad?" Benji said curiously.
"Why don't you ask Sarah," I said irritated.
"Sarah won't tell me Jack shit, she says it's girl code," Benji said with air quotes.
"Let's just stop talking about this, please-" I cut myself off when I saw her. She looked even more gorgeous than I remember, her skin shimmered like gold, and her hair was radiant and voluminous as ever. She was wearing a two-piece black mini Skirt with a furry blacktop and a string of pearls on her neck.
"Well that plans gone out the window," Benji said while looking at Rowan.
"We should go sit down before she sees us, or just Isaac in general," Nolan said awkwardly.
"Yeahhh," Noah said backing away and sitting in the nearest booth. It took everything in me to Tear my eyes away from her, to be honest, I kind of thought I would never see her again.
"Oh, the event's starting!" A woman's voice said, I look over and I see a girl with Noah.
"How?" I say in confusion.
"I don't know either, it's like women are just falling out of the sky for him," Benji said from beside me.
"It's become borderline a talent," Nolan added and we hummed in agreement.
The event starts and the host of this event does a game where the most interesting person in the crowd has to show one of their talents up on stage.
"Hmm, I don't know who to choose." The host said Stroking his clean-shaven face, thinking. then his eyes land on someone.
"Actually I think I know the perfect person, Rowan Zolomen everybody." The crowd starts clapping and cheering for Rowan, the cameras turned to Rowan and so does my head, she looks so surprised yet happy, I see Jeanette and Valerie pushing her to get up from her seat, she walks over to the stage, and climbs the stairs, then stands next to the host.
"Well, Miss. Zolomen, a little birdy told me that you went to Harvard, Is that true?"
"Yeah," Rowan said nervously.
"And this birdy said that your pretty smart, no actually a genius."
"Well, I don't like to brag." A clear whiteboard was being wheeled onto the stage and behind Rowan.
"Ok, well I'm going to say equations like rapid fire in you're going to have to answer them on that whiteboard right there." The host said while pointing at the whiteboard, and giving her a green whiteboard marker.
Rowen answers the questions lightning fast, on the whiteboard, I have never seen her in action so this is my first time actually seeing her as a genius and not just a normal girl.
Once she was done everybody clapped for her, and she went down from the stage. This kind of felt like too much for me I couldn't see her without remembering what happened.
"Guys I'm going to go home."
"You sure?" Nolan asked.
"Yeah."
"Ok, well see you."
"Bye." I walked out the door, as I walked I was contemplating everything that happened, After me and Rowan slip lit up I've been with a bunch of women, but they never made me feel anything, They never even distracted me.
I'm finally outside the cold air hitting my face, I can finally breathe then I hear something.
"Ok bye love you." I remember that voice, I could never forget it.
"Rowan," I say her name and her head turns in my direction, her eyes start to widen in surprise.
"Hey," I say with a nervous smile
