Chapter 6 - It's not the real me.
We stood there, in silence. His eyes gazing right through mine, it felt like he trying to fight through my thoughts and read my mind. I stared at him hard until he looked away.
"Hey, why did you need me?" I questioned curiously whilst gripping my blade from my sheath that lay underneath my leather clothing. Perhaps this was just a private conversation about my training or could it possibly be more than that, perhaps a surprise?
She's beautiful.
"I-I-I I just needed to show you something, I-I think it may, you know... yeah." he replied with hesitation, reaching for something out his boot.
A dagger.
Her voice reminded me of my mother; demanding, but sweet.
Jack stepped forward until our bodies were 1m away and brought the dagger closer to my face; the sharpness of the knives reminding me of the shells that lay on the beach. One touch was painful.
Jack don't do it! - One cut and your mission is accomplished. One cut and you can live your life luxuriously. One cut and the money is all yours. Just one fucking movement!
I raised my blade higher until it fitted perfectly into my hands. Why didn't I just decline his request and run back to mother - where it would be much more safer.
Give it more time Fowler. She's suspicious. Make it unexpected, this is too obvious.
"Abigail, look at this dagger. It's made from the finest steel and I-I want to give it to you. You know... like a welcome gift, I know it's not ideal but it fits into the category" he mumbled.
"Um, thanks. You could of given it to me earlier, rather than now. Anyways I need to go, I'll see you some other time" I hissed whilst giving him a faint smile.
You did what your heart told you to do. I'm proud.
I walked out the room and headed for the exit. There waited mother with a face full of curiosity. "What did he say? Was it something sweet because he looks like the type of guy for you, he's quite good-looking." Mother blurted out.
"Oh shut up, he just gave me a dagger. Quite random don't you think? Maybe he's trying to show me something without verbally saying it... Anyways let's go home now, I'm hungry" I demanded, grabbing the door handle belonging to the car.
I've let you go for now, as I didn't feel comfortable. I will get you some other time.
Don't you worry, Abigail.
