I stood numb staring at him as he keeps on scrolling around the library. “What a bad luck is this? Why do I have to forget my phone in the office?” He kept on repeating as he was walking around. It’s already getting late and at this point, I am sure no one will come to check on the library again. Worst still, the department is among those buildings behind the university so it wasn’t an exit route. I sat at a corner after finding the book I was looking for. I decided to go through the book than to waste time doing nothing.
He stared at me as I go through the booking copying out some stuffs. “What kept you late in the library?” He asked looking as me. I adjusted myself a bit and faced him. “Isn’t it obvious? I was doing what you asked me to.” I replied rudely. I was already pissed off so I am not afraid anymore of what he will do. He was surprised by my response. “Are you trying to be rude?” he asked looking at me. I giggled a bit as I closed the book. “Well, isn’t it rude enough that you made us get locked in this place?” I asked with a fiercely face. He smiled a little, biting his lips. “Well, I wasn’t the idiot that pushed the cabinet right.” He said looking angry.
I was also angry as I stood up and faced him. “If you should have just acted matured and listened to me when I said the cleaners will sort it out, we wouldn’t be stuck in here.” I replied looking into his eyes. He forcefully stood up and pushed back his seat. “Are you calling me immature? Do you realize I am still your lecturer here?” He asked with a rage full face. I giggled again. “I just remembered that. You see Mr. Greg, why not tell me if you have any fucking problem with me in your class and stop the fucking hate. I can stop attending your class. But can you just act as a lecturer not some sort of sulking kid.” I said looking angry also.
I know he is already at the climax of anger now and I am also ready for the worst. He groaned and forcefully raised his hands on me. Just as he was about slapping me, the lights went off. I quickly closed my eyes and bent down, waiting to hear where his voice will echo. I was still down when I heard him released a heavy scream. He knelt on the floor shivering and covering his face. I managed to see him through the little rays of light piercing through the glasses. I was shocked and afraid seeing how he was behaving. I quickly ran to him and sat beside him. He kept on shivering and making some weird noise. Guess he is afraid of darkness.
Seeing how he was behaving, I was already afraid also. I didn’t know what to do because he kept on shivering and sweating seriously. I stood afraid, looking at him as he was still on the floor. “What should I do?” I asked myself. I am already feeling bad seeing him in that situation. Even though we are not in good terms, I should at least try to help him because the situation is getting out of hand. I quickly moved closer to him and hugged him for a while. He hugged me back tightly and leaned on my shoulder. I was shocked because he was crying really hard. “What could be wrong with him?” I asked myself as I kept on patting his back. “It’s okay sir. I am here.” I kept on saying till he started calming down.
We were still sitting on the floor hugging each other when the lights were turned on again. I quickly stood up as I heard some footsteps within the library. I quickly walked to the door and started banging it. “Is any there? Help us please.” I kept on shouting. A security man heard my voice and sound of the door; he quickly ran to the library and opened the door. “What happened? Why are you locked in here? Who are you with?“ He kept on asking giving me a suspicious look.
That was when I realized that if I am actually seen with Mr. Greg in this place by this time, it will surely leads to a big deal which will end in the panel and in tears. I realized that Mars was always right; Men will just put us in trouble always. I stood looking at the security guard who was waiting for my response. I know I don’t want to put the chances of my education at risk; also I don’t want to put Greg in trouble. So I had to quickly bring up a lie. “Oh, I was locked in here with my friend while we were searching for a book. She is over there, feeling sick.” I said pointing at Greg.
The security guard stood by the door and folded his arms. “Go in and call her now.” He said. I quickly ran inside and removed my wig. “Put this on sir, you don’t want to put us in trouble right.” I said as I helped him stood up. He was walking with his head bent. “Here she is sir, she is having menstrual cramps. So we need to rush to the hostel.” I lied again. He stared at us for a while. “But…..” He was about talking when I interrupted him. “Oh please sir, she will soon get wet.” I said looking worried. He nodded his head and allowed us leave.
I helped him walked out of the building with his head still bent. We walked for a few distance before he pushed me off him. “It’s okay here. I can walk properly.” He said throwing my wig at me. “What an ingrate?” I asked myself as I watched him walked to his car. He turned and stared at me for a while before entering his car. “This asshole should have at least taken me to my hostel.” I added as I stood thinking of what to do next.
I was still standing thinking of how to walk back to the hostel when I heard my girls calling out my name. “Where the hell have you been Jenny? You kept us all worried.” Mars asked as they approached me. That was when I remembered that i didn’t tell anyone I was going to the library. I sighed deeply as I told them my encounter with Greg. They all laughed at the story. “I told you guys already. Men will always be men.” Mars said as we walked home. “What a stressful day!” I said as I lay on my bed…
JIDE’S POV…
I sipped my coffee and stood up, walking around my spacious office. “Common Charles. You can’t tell me otherwise about that girl. I know her so well. She is well behaved and can’t do such.” I said as I was talking to Charles, my friend about Yesmin. He sighed and also stood up from his seat. “You know I won’t lie to you about something this important right? I also couldn’t’ believe my eyes when I met her that day in the restaurant. They were clearly bashing bout some of my guys. I was shocked and from what a waiter told us, those girls are big girl of Lagos.” Charles said looking so sure of his words. I giggled and folded my arms. “Are you trying to tell me that Yes min is just pretending to be a good girl to me? I seriously don’t want to believe that. Why would she do that?” I asked looking confused. He walked closer to me. “That’s what is confusing me also brother. Why would she do that? But I think anyway, you would like her since you don’t want her to be too submissive right?” He asked giving me a suspicious look. I sighed deeply looking at him. “I didn’t want her acting like a doll before, and I also won’t take it if she is that fierce. I want a woman of average behaviors.” I said looking at him.
Charles folded his arms and leaned on the wall. “What if we give her a disguised visit? Let’s find out about this her hidden identity.” He said with a curious face. I smiled wickedly as I sat back on my seat. “That will be interesting Charles, let’s see what she does behind the mask.” I said still smiling. He also smiled and sat back opposite me. “If that’s the case. I know they usually organize an end of year party with her friends. Let’s attend that, and am sure you will be amazed to see the real side of your fiancée.” He said looking at me suspiciously.
I giggled as I leaned back on the chair. “Just enjoy the little time left Yesmin. You will surely regret all the lies.” I said ass I closed my eyes…
