EPISODE 10

KATE’S POV…
I was already sweating staring at Mars as she stood in front of us waiting for our replies. I struggled to talk but nothing was coming out of my mouth. Jenny who was also sitting numb beside me gathered up courage and speaks. “We are deciding on going to the clinic. Kate is pretty unwell.” She said as she stood up from the bed. “Let’s get going Kate.” She said to me as she walked out of the room.
I sluggishly stood up and followed Jenny who was already heading out. She paused as she reached the door and turned. “By the way, why are you ladies back so early?” She asked Yesmin who was still staring curiously at us. “Oh. Mars forgot her card, so we are taking it.” Yesmin stammered. Jenny turned and walked out. “See you later then.” She said as I followed her and walked out.
Mars was still starring at us till we disappeared. “Do you think those two are acting weird?” she asked Yesmin who sat on the bed. Yesmin giggled. “Not really. I think they must be stressed out about the party. Especially Kate, she looks so tired.” Yesmin replied. “I hope so.” Mars said as they also head out of the room.
I was panicking as we sat under some trees within the school campus. “That was close.” Jenny said looking at me. I smiled a little and stretched out my hands. “Yeah, I was nearly busted. Thank you Jenny.” I said with a pitiful smile. She smiled at me and adjusted herself on the bench. “So where were we? Are you telling me about Steve?” She asked with a straight face.
I was hesitant and wasn’t sure whether to talk to her about this. I really need someone to talk to about my relationship with Steve but I don’t think Jenny is the right person. “What if this was all planned? What if they were all suspecting me and decided to bring it this way?” I asked myself looking so confused.
Jenny moved closer to me and lay her arms around my shoulder. “You see Kate; I know what you are thinking. I am sure you might be thinking that I want to set you up. But I want you to know that we are in this mess together. I am also in your situation Kate. It’s just that your situation might be clearer than mine.” She said looking so worried. I stared at her with confusion all over my face.
She slowly stood up and leaned on the tree. She folded her arms and faces me. “Kate.” She called with a clear voice. “I have never been in a relationship before. I don’t know what love means. I don’t even know how it looks like. But these days, I am confused about Mr. Greg. I always think about him, we hang out a few times and always talk on phone too. I don’t know what to label that Kate. But if truly that is love, then it freaking makes me happy and I will do anything to keep it to myself.” She said with full confidence.
I stared at her as she speaks with so much happiness about Greg. I sighed slowly as I adjusted myself and faces her. “Of course that is love Jenny. It’s the situation where you only want to be with that one person, where you never get tired of them, where you can’t look at them with any fault, where you will break any rule for them and where you become happy just by thing about them.” I said with a huge smile on my face.
I giggled a bit as I stood beside jenny. “I don’t know when all these started happening to me and I don’t know how long it will last. But I am really sure that I want to continue this relationship with Steve because he makes me happier than I am. He gave me another definition of men and he gave me a thousand reasons to love him.” I said looking at her.
Jenny sighed deeply. “Don’t you think we are betraying our friends and breaking the promise?” she asked with a confused face. I sighed deeply and hold her hands. “I don’t know if this is right or wrong Jenny, all I know is that I can’t continue leaving a lie. Our days in together are numbered and I am sure it will be over immediately after this party. We will all have rights to our personal lives. Until then, let’s keep this secret Jenny.” I pleaded.
She nodded her head in agreement. “Let’s enjoy this new phase together.” She said with a smile as we hugged each other for a while and head back to the hostel. I actually don’t know what will be the outcome of this; all I am aware of and concerned about is my current happiness. Steve makes me happy and I am ready to pay any price just to keep that happiness. Call me selfish or a betrayer, I know it’s good to be selfish once in a while…
JENNY’S POV…
I hurriedly picked my bag as we arrived at the hostel together with Kate. “Are you meeting him already?” Kate asked as I head out. I smiled at her and nodded my head. She smiled back and moved closer. “Make sure you don’t hangout around the campus. It’s dangerous.” She whispered. I smiled again and head out.
Greg has been calling to confirm my location, I texted him instantly to let him know that I am on my way. I arrived at beach after a few minutes. He was already waiting when I reached him. “Sorry for keeping you waiting.” I said as I walked closer. He smiled at me and moved closer too. “Its fine. Let’s have a drink.” He said as he grabbed my hand and moved me to the seats opposite the water. We talked and have drinks for a while before we decided to play in the water.
This is actually my first time of doing this, all these seems new to me. I know I have been here many times with my friends but nothing was like this. We played really good in the water and sat together staring at each other. Greg moved closer and grabbed my hands. He was so hot. “Are you feeling the same as me Jenny?” He asked with his seductive eyes.
I was too weak to answer. He moved closer and grabbed my neck from behind. I don’t know how but I feel his lips on mine. He placed a warm kiss on my lips. That was my most magical moment my whole life. I kissed him back immediately and our lips remain locked for a while.
“I love you Jenny.” He said with an alluring smile. I smiled back at him with all my teeth opened. “I love you too Greg.” I replied still smiling. Well, I guess this is the moment Kate was telling me about. I felt all she was trying to tell me. I really feel good because I wasn’t ready to let go of Greg. I am not sure if I am on the right track but I am sure I won’t let go of this happiness no matter what…
MARS’S POV…
“Cheers!” We all chorused as we sip our drinks. I dropped my glass of wine on the floor as we were seated round in the middle of our spacious room. “I can’t believe this was our last exams in this school.” Yesmin said as she sipped her drink again. I smiled and adjusted myself.
“It’s really unbelievable you know. It was just like yesterday that fate brought us together. We have been together for good four years, we cried and laughed together. We celebrated each other and grief our sorrows too. We went through a lot together which made us realized how strong we are. We have really come far you know.” I said looking blankly at the space.
Kate giggled and dropped her cup. “It has really been a beautiful journey guys. I can’t believe this would be our round up party. Do you all remember when we celebrated our first year?” she asked and we all laughed. “That was terrible Kate. We were summoned by the senates.” Jenny replied and we all laughed again. “There are whole sum of memories you know.” Yesmin added with a smile.
I giggled a bit with a smile. “You see, life has really been faithful to us all, even though we all had a terrible experience with men, we still got another chance from life to live better. I am really proud of us. I am proud of the independent life we live. I am proud of LIFE OF US. I am grateful to life for keeping us strong all these while. I don’t know what life has for us after this, but I hope we remain together as the best sisters we are and also to keep our motives in mind about men.” I said looking at the ladies who were staring at me curiously.
“Our journey shouldn’t end here. I really don’t want to leave you guys. You are my home apart from home and also my comfort zone. Thank you all for the friendship, support, advices, celebrations and most importantly, trust. I know I can’t repay for all these. It might sound too clingy to you, but you should all know that if I will be given a thousand chances to choose friends, I will choose you guys over and over again. I want you all to know that you were the best part of my life and I will always cherish our time together. Promise me to always keep in touch. Promise me more of this gathering after graduation. Let’s do this again please.” I pleaded with a drop of tears on my face.
They were also shedding tears as I was speaking. I know it’s not easy having this conversation and I have been trying to run away from it, but time definitely brings it here. I can’t believe this will be like our farewell gathering. It’s really heart breaking to think about separating from the people we call home and family. But what can we do. This is life and we all have to move on. We hugged each other tightly for a while.
I gathered courage and giggled. “Come on guys, we have a party to prepare.” I said as I stood up staring at them. “Let’s make this a memorable one. Let’s make it great party like never before.” I said with a huge smile on my face…
KATE’S POV…
I smiled at Mars as she headed to her wardrobe. Jenny was staring at me as I was looking restless. I looked at her with a smile. “I hope this ends in peace not in pieces.” I said to myself as I read a text from Steve. “I have a surprise for you at the party.”…
