EPISODE 5

I sluggishly opened my weak eyes that have developed a dark cycle around them. I looked pale and still weak as i was still lying on the bed. I slowly turned my head to the mini drawer beside the bed, i tried reaching to the glass of water on the table but I felt dizzy. My mouth was totally dry as I was very thirsty.
Kate, who was sitting on a seat opposite the bed quickly rushed to me. "Let me help you.” She said as she hurriedly picked the glass and poured some water in it, she put in a straw and bring it up to my mouth. I drank a bit and removed my mouth. I sighed slowly feeling relieved.
“How are you feeling Mars” Jenny asked holding my hands. I looked around the strange room which seems like a hospital and stared at the ladies too. I struggled and open up my mouth which was totally heavy. “Where am I? Why am i this weak?" I asked looking at the ladies who stood by the bed starring at me with their eyes soaked with tears. Yesmin moved a bit closer to my head. "You don't remember? You fainted during the party." She said looking at me. "What is going on Mars? You are scaring us." Kate said looking worried.
I adjusted myself and leaned on the wall. I remembered clearly what happened at the restroom. I can still see the image of the derenched looking woman. I sighed and folded my arms, starring at them. "I saw her. I saw the woman." I said looking worried. Jenny sat on the bed beside me. "Oh my God Mars. What woman are you talking about?" She asked curiously.
I stared at the for a while. "Remember the letter that was sent to the hostel the other day?” I asked anxiously. "Yeah....Yeah...." They all replied eagerly. I folded my arms again. "The woman who sent it came to the party." I said looking at them as they stared curiously at me. "What are you trying to say Mars? How did you know she was the one.?" Jenny asked with a confused face.
I sighed deeply as I leaned back on the bed. “I saw her while I was in the restroom. She looked so drenched and dirty. She also said that statement to me again, that she is my future. But this time, she was referring to me in particular.” I explained with a pitiful face. Yesmin moved closer and sat beside me. She was also looking terrified. “But what do you think that means and why is she saying it?” she asked looking at me.
“I can’t figure out what that means seriously. What baffles me most was how she got access to the hotel. There must be something fishy about that woman.” I said curiously. “But whatever the case is, I am sure it’s about a man. So I suggest we lay low with all the men we roll with for now. Let’s await her return. ” I said looking at them. “Do you think this is about Alex?” Jenny asked confused. I am also confused at the moment. “I can’t point out who this is about.  The last time the letter arrived was immediately after Steve’s party. So I think we shouldn’t conclude yet.” I replied.
Kate was spaced out and sweating seriously while I was talking. “Are you alright Kate?” I asked looking at her suspiciously. She giggled a bit as she was startled by my call. “I am totally fine. I am just afraid about the letter and the woman.” She said looking anxious. The door opened and a nurse came in. she examined me and gave me a few anxiety drugs before discharging me. The ladies helped packed my stuffs and we head home.
JENNY’S POV…
It has been almost since Mars’s incidence and things are becoming alright again. We aren’t being haunted by any letter or the woman again. And as usual we always rock and roll loud in the town of Lagos. “I think we should throw a party again after our exams. I am suggesting something loud.” I said as we were all seated in the room preparing for school. “I also can’t wait for that. This is our final year so we must definitely shock the town one last time.” Yesmin said walking to the mirror.
Kate slowly picked up her phone and stood up. “What are you girls talking about. Have you all forgotten that my birthday is right after exams? I will definitely host this party.” She said and we all shouted in jubilation. Mars adjusted herself on her bed. “It’s okay ladies. Let’s all concentrate on exams for now. We can plan the birthday party later. I am sure we all want graduate with good grades right?” She asked looking at us.
One thing I love about my squad is the despite our mischievous activities, we also study hard. It’s funny but we all have good grades. Mars is a first class student in her department and also a good leader to us. No matter how much we party, she always insists on us studying hard and sees us to it. As Mars will always say and I quote: “You can never expect respect from a man when you are not independent yourself. We all have a dark story relating to men. But it’s always our choice to choose whether we should undergo that situation again or change the whole scene.”
She will always say: “I am not stopping you from associating with men. That is obviously impossible. We need them as they also need us. But I want you all to make yourselves valuable and worthy in their eyes. As long as you are all independent, no man can treat you as a slave.” All these reasons are why we respect Mars very much in our squad. We really don’t know her bitter experience with men but we are sure she went through a lot in the hands of that gender.
I was in the library after my afternoon paper trying to find a book for an assignment. “Who the hell gives an assignment even during exams? These lecturers will just frustrate someone to dropping out of school.” I complained while searching for the book that was nowhere to be found. I guess the old saying that not all knowledge is found online is true. I would have goggled this, but goggle is also not helping. I sighed deeply as I look around the library that seems deserted. It’s already getting late and people are leaving the library. I can only hear a few steps of people around the library. I decided to search a bit more before giving up.
I picked up my bag to call Kate so she won’t be waiting,, but seems I left my bag with her in the class. “What the fuck!” I exclaimed. Luckily, as I raised my head to the top of a shelf, I sighted the book. Unfortunately, as I stretched my hands to grab it, I mistakenly pushed the shelf behind and it fell on someone. I heard a voice shouted from the corner. I quickly ran to the place to check on the person. Seems it’s a man, I helped him removed all the books and raised the shelf. He was still on the ground.
“I am sorry Sir, it was a mistake. I said looking terrified.” He slowly stood up. “What the hell have you done?” He yelled as he stood up and faced me. I was so frozen. It’s Mr. Greg. “Pick up all these books now. You clumsy person.” He shouted and head out. I slowly bent down and started picking up the books while insulting him in my mind. I heard him banging the library’s door calling out the security.
He sluggishly walked back to me. “Do you have a phone with you? Put a call to your friend.” He ordered staring at me. I nodded my head. He sighed and leaned on the wall.
“What the fuck! We have been locked in this library.” He said looking at me…
