Scarlett's long blonde hair was short and pixie like. She was still asleep and the doctors said she would be out for a while longer but Evan refused to leave her side again. Marline and Franklin left, Evan gave them the key to his apartment and they went to take care of Vinny. Lena and Brandon left to take care of Skippy and get Scarlett some fresh clothes for when she woke up. Evan and Liz stayed put, unmoving, each holding a hand and praying a silent prayer.

Bee, boo, beep

"Liz, what is that?" She was so focused on Scarlett she didn't hear her phone go off.

"Where is it?" the sound bounced off the walls like a symphony.

"Sorry" Liz went to end the call but the ring rang out in Evan's head. Liz plopped back down. "How long has it been?" Evan checked his watch.

"It's just past 1 in the morning now so..." Evan tried to do the math. From yesterday around noon until now. It's been 12 hours of hospitals and Scarlett was still out cold. "A long time."

"I need more caffeine" Liz stated, a brief cry "She's gonna wake up, just you wait and see." The statement was just as much for Liz as it was for Evan.

"Hey" Scarlett croaked out "Why are you crying?" Evan couldn't believe his ears.

"Hi" Evan wept out.

"Hi" she said again, her eyes dropping, and she was still high from all the medications. Liz had left for a coffee run, but would be bursting through the door any moment. "Why are you crying?" Scarlett asked again.

"Because I don't want to lose you" Scarlett was the one that just had surgery yet Evan was in worse shape than her.

"You won't lose me." She said lazily, her eyes opening and closing as she tried to focus on Evan.

"That's right" Evan said whipping away tears. "Because I'm never taking no for answer, ever again." Scarlett tilted her head like a dog looking for a treat. "I love you."

"And I love you" Scarlett said still loopy but the words were still true.

"I want you forever" Scarlett smiled at the words but closed her eyes. "I love you" Evan said again as he watched her eyes flutter closed.

"OH MY GOD!" Liz screamed dropping the coffee cups, spilling it all along the entrance to the room. Scarlett opened one tired eye.

"Hi friend" Scarlett said closing her eyes but opening her hand up for Liz.

"Hi friend" Liz repeated softly falling at Scarlett's bedside. "Don't you dare scare me like again!" Liz quiet screamed into Scarlett's hand.

"Sorry, it wasn't really my choice" Scarlett croaked as she used all her strength to grip Evan's hand. She was going to be okay, Evan squeezed her hand back but not too hard, he didn't want to break her.
