She knew what she was doing when she said to call her. She knew that she liked this guy, but she didn't know why for the first time in a long time she actually wanted to peruse him. His face was covered but from what she could see, it looked like he had gotten in a fight, or walked into a burning building. Scarlett shook away the thought of Evan as her phone lit up and Jack's perfectly cocky face appeared. He was someone that she could never get away from. He was someone that she thought was going to be with her forever, and not in the ways that she wanted someone forever for. Everyone told her that he was trouble, when Scarlett ended things her friends tried to withhold the words 'I told you so'.

But Scarlett had a thing for wild guys and bad boys in her books. So when he appeared all Abercrombie handsomeness, wanting her...

"Hey beautiful, you ignoring me?" his voice was smooth like velvet, and Scarlett's pause was long enough for his temper to rise. "Scar" he bit out, she could hear his velvet turn to charcoal.

"What?" she held a false peace in her voice, like his tone, his face, everything about him didn't make her skin crawl.

"I miss you" he stated oozing charm. Scarlett stayed silent, she didn't miss him. "I love you baby doll" she didn't love him and she hated when he called her baby doll. Like she was a possession, something fragile and breakable... baby doll.

"Jack" she started getting her nerve back, to stand up to him but her phone buzzed and a text from an unknown number popped up. She pulled her pelican, military grade case away from her ear and saw the message before it disappeared.

Hi, this is Evan Brook.

He used punctuation Scarlett thought as she heard Jack screaming into the phone at her.

"Scarlett!" he bellowed, anger building in his chest, his face redden, and blue grey eyes bulging at not getting what he wanted.

"Jack I have to go" she started but his laugh stopped her from pressing end.

"Hot date?" he mocked.

"No" Scarlett replied instantly.

"Because that last guy..." his threat was useless because Scarlett would never go on another date, not after Jack's not so discreet display of 'affection' if anyone got in the way of them.

"There is no guy."

"No need to be snippy baby doll."

That stupid nick name again, baby doll. She wanted to break his nose with her calloused hands and nail bitten fingers and show him how unlike a doll she really was.

"Baby doll?" he knew she hated it, but he also knew that she wouldn't say anything. She let out a breath thinking back to Evan, she would have his text to look forward to after this very pointless conversation.

"Jack-ey!" a shrill voice called, female, peppy, probably blonde, Jack liked blondes. "Sexyyyy" she bellowed, basically screaming through the phone. Scarlett's fist curled and she cringed, her gag reflex kicking in. She didn't care that Jack was with another girl. He was with many girls, even when they were together. That was one of the reasons he called her baby doll. She was fresh and new, like a flower untouched, untainted. He thought he could change her mind, tempt her with sex unlike she had ever seen, he would blow her mind. She responded with since she never had sex she supposed anything would be mind blowing, he slapped her and punched her back into the bed. He called her baby doll and laughed as he left.
