Hawkins is truly a peaceful city in the morning. Which is am ironic contrast to the chaos that awakens at night. You woke up when a light suddenly illuminated the room. You sat up and look around to see Betty next to the light switch. "Good morning girls." She said in a sweet voice. Much different from your mother who isn't even home when you wake up. "Morning." You and Erica both said with a tired voice as you stretched. "Dana, Nancy called, she said her and her friend Barbara can give you a ride to school." "Oh, okay." "They'll be here in an hour sweetie." She said as she walked out.

After a shower and getting dressed, you stood at the mirror contemplating what to do with your hair. There was no time to straighten it again, so you settled for low braided pig tails. Walking downstairs and grabbing an apple off of the table, you grabbed your bag and waited for Nancy and Barb. "Hey, you don't have to be nervous. New schools can be difficult, but at least you'll have Nancy and Barbara."
Betty said. "Thanks Aunt Betty. I'm sure I'll be fine." Not even you believed that. But you wanted to make her feel better. "That's the spirit." The conversation was cut short by a horn coming from outside. "That's probably them, I got to go." "Okay, have a good day honey." "I will." You said walking outside and getting into the backseat. "Hey!" Nancy said. "Barb, this is my friend Dana Sinclair, she just moved here from New York. Dana this is Barbara Holland." "It's nice to meet you Dana." "You too. Thanks for the ride." "Of course, a friend of Nancy is a friend of mine." Barb seemed too sweet for high school. Between her auburn locs, big round glasses, and friendly personality, she reminded you of a grandma. Not in a bad way, in a 'you make everyone around you comfortable and happy' kind of way. You looked forward to being friends with her. Maybe Hawkins isn't all that bad.

After you got your schedule and we're assigned a locker, which was coincidentally next to Nancy and Barb's, the three of you made your way down the hall. "So, did he call?" Barb asked. "Keep your voice down." Nancy said sternly. "Did he?" "Are we talking about Steve?" You chimed in. "Yes, her super popular boyfriend." "I told you it's not like that." You and Barb gave a a look, waiting for her to respond. "Okay, I mean, yes, he likes me, but not like that." She stated. "We just...made out a couple times." "We just...made out a couple times." Barb said mocking her. "Nance, seriously. You're going to be so cool now it's ridiculous." "No I'm not." "You just better keep hanging out with us." You joked, which earned a look from Nancy. "If you become friends with Tommy H. or Carol-" Barb stated before she was cut off. "Oh, that's gross!" Nancy interrupted. "Okay, I'm telling you, it was a one-time..." You interrupted her with a knowing look. "Two-time thing." She finished. When she opened her locker, she was greeted with a piece of paper that looked like it was torn from a notebook. 'Meet Me. Bathroom. -Steve' The note read. "You were saying?" Barb told her. Nancy smiled and waved goodbye as she made her way to the bathroom. "Make sure to shoot me if I ever get like that." You said. "Noted." Barb replied.

Later that night, you were sitting at the dinner table, listening to Lucas ramble about his friend. "And he didn't show up to school today either." "I'm sure Will is fine, maybe he's sick." Uncle Mark said. "He would've at least picked up his walkie-talkie." "Maybe the battery went out." Aunt Betty chimed in.
Lucas slumped back in this chair, unsatisfied with his parents answers. "How was your day Dana?" Betty asked. "Good. I have one more friend than I did yesterday." "That's great dear."

After dinner, you were sitting in on your bed drawing in your sketch book when you saw Lucas ready to leave the house. "Where are you going?" You asked. "To Mike's house." "Why do you sound suspicious?" "Maybe you're the suspicious one." He said walking downstairs. "Weirdo." You said to yourself as you continued drawing.
