"Nancy!" Nancy where are you?!" You both yelled. You could family hear her call your names, but you were unable to see her. "We're right here!" You called out to her. "Follow my voice!" You instructed her. Instead of responding with words, she screamed. Following the direction of the noise, you two stopped in front of a tree that had some strange covering on the trunk. "It looks like it's breathing." You stated. "Nancy, follow my voice!" Jonathan yelling into the tree. As you both leaned in closer, a hand stuck out, reaching for you, causing you both to fall back. "Jonathan! Dana!" Nancy called out. "Oh my god." You said, grabbing her hand and trying to pull her out. "Help me!" You said to Jonathan. He stood behind you, grabbing her arm and began to pull. Once you got her out, you all fell like dominoes on top of each other.

"You sure you don't want to stay?" Jonathan asked as he laid a sleeping bag on the floor. "I would, but I can't. If I don't come home, my aunt is gonna kill me." "Then I can drive you home." "No, you should stay with Nancy. She seems pretty shaken up." "And you're not?" "I'll be fine." "Okay. Get some rest." "You too." "See you tomorrow." Leaving Nancy's room, you smiled and waved at him, closing the door behind you. As you were sneaking out the back door, you swords you heard someone in the basement. It's probably just Mike, you thought to yourself.

Praying aunt Betty wouldn't be mad, you quietly closed the front door and tiptoed upstairs. "Where were you?" Aunt Betty asked, turning on the light. "I was out with Nancy and Jonathan." "Jonathan Byers?" "Yeah." "I didn't know you were friends with him." "We recently started hanging out. And since the funeral was today, Nancy and I thought he Callie use a distraction, so we went to the theater and then got dinner." "That's really sweet of you." "Thanks. Can o go to bed? It's been a long day." "Of course sweetie." You continued your way up the stairs until she stopped you again. "By the way, your mom called." "What did she say?" "She just wanted to know how you were doing." "And what did you say?" "I told her that your behavior has improved a lot since you've been here. She was very happy to hear that." "Good." "She even said that instead of staying the whole year, you can come back home after Christmas if you want." "Really?" "Mhm. You don't have to decide tonight, you can think about it in the morning." "Thanks. Goodnight." "Night hun."
Finally getting to your room, you flopped down on the bed. Not having enough energy to shower or change clothes, you drifted off to sleep.

Ring! Ring! Ring! Was the sound you woke up to. Barely conscious, you felt something hit you on the head. "Pick it up!" Erica rudely shouted at you from the other side of the room. "Did you just hit me with a pillow?" "Yeah, and I can hit you with a lot more of you don't pick up the phone." "Kids these days." You whispered to yourself. Who could be calling this early? "Hello?" You said in a sleepy voice into the phone. "Hey, it's me." "Nancy? It's so early, what's wrong?" "You remember when Barb cut her hand?" "Yeah." "And how the deer was bleeding?" "Where are you going with this?" "Sharks can detect blood in one part per million." "English please?" "They can smell one drop in a million from a quarter mile away." "So you're saying that thing can detect blood?" You whispered so that Erica wouldn't hear. "It's just a theory." "We could test it." You heard Jonathan say from the other side of the phone. "But if it works, we're screwed." You said. "At least we'll know it's coming." Nancy said. "We'll be at your house in 30 minutes." She said before hanging up.

The three of you walked into a hunting store, not knowing what get specifically, you just needed some to kill that creature. The faux bears head on the shelf definitely threw you off a little and made you stumble back a little, which resulted in you bumping into someone. "Oh, sorry." You said, turning around to face the person. "Mai?" "Dana, hey." "What are you doing here?" "I work here. I stock the shelves. What are you doing here?" "I, um, I'm going hunting." "With Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers?" "Uh, yeah. We're in a hunting group." "Oh, that's cool." You both sat in awkward silence for a minute before she spoke again. "To be honest, I kind of thought you were avoiding me." "Why would you think that?" "It's just, we made plans the other day and I haven't seen or heard from you since then." "I promise I'm not avoiding you. I just kind of have some things going on right now." "Yeah, it's fine, I get it." "I definitely want to hang out with you though. As soon as I'm free we'll go get milkshakes or whatever you want." "Sounds good. Let me know if you need help finding anything by the way." "Actually, yeah. Where are your bear traps?" "Follow me." She led you to a shelf full of items, and eventually you saw the bear traps. You waved over to Nancy and Jonathan, signaling them to join you. When they came over, you introduced your friends. "Jonathan, Nancy, this is Mei Pham. Mei, This is Jonathan and Nancy." "Hi." She said. "Hi." Jonathan said. "Hey, I think I saw you the other day." Nancy said. "Yeah, it's nice to formally meet you." "I thought we could use some bear traps." You said. "We absolutely could." Jonathan said, putting the traps in his basket. "I was thinking, after we're done bear hunting, Mei could hang out with us." "Yeah, we'd love to get to know you." Nancy said. "Great. I've got to get back to work, but I'll see you guys later." You all said your goodbyes, purchased the items and left the store.
"I'm gonna use the bathroom, I'll be right back." Nancy said, going back into the store. You and Jonathan started putting the items in the trunks when you let out a soft chuckle. "What?" He asked. "It's just, two weeks ago I was partying and getting drunk with people I didn't like and barely knew. And now-" "You're monster hunting with the weirdest guy in town." "Yeah." He laughed at your bluntness. "No. I was gonna say, and now I'm spending my time with people I actually care about." "Aw, you do care about me." He joked. "I never said I didn't." You two stared at each other for a moment. It didn't feel awkward like it would with most people. It felt comfortable and natural. "Are you lovebirds done?" Nancy asked, walking to the car. Her words made you and Jonathan frantically take a few steps back from each other. "Don't ever say that again." You joked.
"Hey Nance!" You heard from someone in a passing car. "Cant wait to see your movie." He said, driving away. "What was that?" Jonathan asked. "I don't know." Nancy answered. You turned around and started walking towards the theater. "Dana, where are you going?" Jonathan asked. They both followed you, only to witness the big orange words painted on the theater. 'All The Right Moves-Starring: Nancy The Slut Wheeler' "Jesus." Jonathan said. "Nancy, I'm so sorry." You said, putting a hand on her back. You all stood there until you saw Steve, Tommy, Carol, and Nicole in a nearby alley. Nancy walked up to them, leaving you and Jonathan. "Aw, hey there princess." Carol said when she noticed Nancy. "Uh oh. She looks upset." Tommy pointed out. Ignoring their words, Nancy kept walking until she got to Steve. With nothing to say to him, she sent a harsh slap across this cheek, leaving his friends in shock. "What is wrong with you?" She asked. "What's wrong with you?" He returned the question. "I was worried about you." He added. "What are you talking about?" "I wouldn't lie if I were you." Carol said. "You don't want to be known as the lying slut, do you?" "Speak of the devil." Tommy said as you and Jonathan walked up to them. "You came by last night?" Nancy asked. Steve didn't respond to her. "I don't know what you thought you saw last night, but it wasn't like that." "So you were just...studying?" "No we were just-" "You were just what? Finish that sentence." There was nothing she could say. "Come on Nancy, let's go." You said, leading her out of the alley and flipping off Steve like you had just days before. "You know Byers, I'm actually impressed." Steve said. "I always took you for a queer, but not you've got two chicks following you around." He said shoving him. "Back off Harrington." You said sternly. "I never pegged you for a slut Dana, but I guess your true colors were bound to show sooner or later." "Steve, stop it." Nancy said. "How does it feel to be a screwup like your father Byers? I can't even name all the screw ups in your family. I'm not even surprised about what happened to your brother." Before Steve could get another word out, Jonathan had punched him, knocking him onto the ground. They continued to scrap for a few more minutes, until the cops came and all of Steve's friends bolted. One of the cops ran after Steve and Tommy, while the other one arrested Jonathan.

After arriving at the station, Nancy was talking to the cops, while the lady at the desk helped you get ice for Jonathan. "Here you go." She said, handing you the ice. "Thanks. Do you think we can leave soon?" "You and your friend, yes. Your boyfriend, no." "Oh, he's not my boyfriend." "With the way he's looking at you right now, I think you'd better tell him that." You turned around to looks at Jonathan, just for him to look down when you caught his eyes. You walked over to him and sat down. "Are you okay?" You asked, putting the ice on his injuries. "Yeah, you?" "Mhm." You sat in silence for a few minutes, taking turns stealing glances at each other. "Thank you, for what you did. Nancy and I really appreciate you sticking up for us like that." "Of course. I'd do it again." You smiled at his words, using your free hand to grab his cuffed one. "You know, the front desk lady thought we were a couple." "And that's a bad thing?" "Not necessarily." You smiled. "What is this?" Nancy asked, taking a seat next to you. "Nothing. We were just talking." "Were you now?" "Mhm." Nancy leaned closer to you, whispering in your ear. "I think you two would be very cute together." You rolled your eyes at her and smiled. Maybe you would be a cute couple.
