December 25, 1983

A month had passed since everything happened. Things were staring to feel normal again, even though you knew they never would be. Jonathan was in the basement, getting Will and Lucas to come upstairs, while you were talking to Steve, Nancy, and Mai. "He's gonna love the gift." You told Steve. "He'd love it more if he gave it to him himself." Nancy said. "It'd be awkward." He said. "Ugh, boys." Mai joked. "Question. If you don't celebrate Christmas, what are you doing here?" Steve asked. "Free food. Duh." Mai said, taking a bite out of a cookie. After Jonathan came back upstairs with the boys and received his gift from Nancy, the four of you got in his car as he took you and Lucas home. As he pulled in your driveway, you told Lucas and Will to step outside for a minute while you talked to Jonathan. "There's something we have to talk about." "Okay. What's up?" "My mom wants me to come home." "What?" "She said I can come back after Christmas." "You're just now telling me this?" "I didn't want to worry you, you had enough on your plate." "Are you gonna go?" "I don't know. I mean, at home I have her. But here, I have my cousins, my aunt, my friends, and you." "So?" "Oh come on. I could never leave you. Besides, who would I sketch? Who would pose for your photos?" Jonathan smiled and pulled you into a kiss, placing his hands on both sides of your face. He pulled away from you, smiling and rubbing his thumbs on your cheeks. "I love you." He whispered. "I love you too." You said, giving him one last kiss.

You told your mother your decision, and she was disappointed, but she wanted what was best for you. So she let you stay. A month ago, you dreaded coming to Hawkins, now, you couldn't imagine ever leaving.

The End.
