"Jonathan? Jesus, what happened?" Joyce said, walking over to you all. There was a man who you had never seen before walking with her. "Why is he wearing handcuffs?" She asked officer Callahan. "Well, your boy assaulted a police officer. That's why?" "Take them off." "I am afraid I cannot do that." "Take them off!" "You heard her. Take them off." The man behind her said. "Chief," officer Powell spoke. "I get that everyone's emotional here, but there's something you need to see." He said, leading the other two men outside. Apparently the chief was friends with Joyce Byers.
When they came back inside, the chief set the box of equipment on the desk. "What is this?" Joyce asked. "Why don't you ask your son? We found it in his car." He replied. "What?" Joyce asked. "Why are you going through my car?" Jonathan asked the officers. "Is that really the question you should be asking right now? I wanna see you in my office." "You won't believe me." "Why don't you give me a try?"
Once you were in his office, Jonathan passed the photo of the mystery creature to his mom and the chief, waiting for their response. Leaning your head over to look at the name plate on his desk. 'Jim Hopper' it read. "You say blood draws this thing?" Hopper asked. "We don't know." Nancy replied. "It's just a theory." You added.

The five of you sat in a car, watching the Wheeler house as some people in suits took a bunch of their stuff from the house. "I have to go home." Nancy said. "You can't." Hopper replied. "My family is in there." "They'll be okay." She started walking towards the house when Hopper grabbed her arm. "Let me go." "That last thing we need is them know you're involved in this." "Mike is there." "They haven't found him yet." He said, pointing to a helicopter in the sky. They joined you, Jonathan, and Joyce in the car, the three of you squashed together in the back. "Look, we need to find them before they do." Hopper said, turning to look at you. "Do you have any idea where they might have gone?" "I don't know." Nancy said. "Dana?." "We haven't talked a lot lately." You told him. "Is there any place that your parents don't know about?" Joyce asked her. "I don't know." Nancy replied, dragging her hands down her face. "I might." Jonathan said. "What?" "I don't know where he is, but I think I know how to ask him."
✯
Walking into Jonathan's house, you and Nancy stopped for a second to observe the state of the house. Letters painted in the wall, Christmas lights hanging up, furniture destroyed. One might think their place was robbed. "Come on." Jonathan said to you. You both followed them into Will's room. Joyce grabbed a walkie-talkie out from under the bed and handed it to Nancy. "Talk to your brother." She took the device and turned it on. "Mike, are you there? Mike?" She waited a few seconds for a response before handing it to you. "Maybe Lucas is there." You took the device and held it up to your mouth. "Lucas? It's Dana. Are you there?" You handed it back to Nancy. "This is an emergency, Mike. Answer." Hopper took it from her and started to speak. "Listen kids, this is the chief. If you're there, pick up. We know you're in trouble and we know about the girl. We can protect you, we can help you, but you gotta pick up. Are you there? Do you copy? Over." You all sat in silence, waiting for an answer. "Anybody got other ideas?" Hopper asked. "Yeah, we copy." Mike finally said. "It's Mike. I'm here. We all are."
✯
The four of you waited on the couch for Hopper to return with the kids. At some point, you and Jonathan unknowingly started holding hands. Even in this highly stressful situation, he brought you a little bit of calmness. You heard the car pull up and saw the headlights through the blinds. You all stood up one by one and ran outside. "Mike!" Nancy said, running to her brother. "Oh my god, Lucas!" You said, embracing you younger cousin in a hug. "Don't ever go off like that again!" "Okay, okay, relax. I'm fine." "I didn't know that. I may not express it that much, but I care about you, a lot." "Me too." He said quietly, not wanting to get teased by his friends. "Is that my dress?" Nancy asked the girl standing behind Mike. You didn't know her, it you figured she was the girl that Hopper was referring to earlier.
