XAVIER

Varida was furious with me when I woke not too long ago. The Fairy blood in my veins healed me faster than I ever had before, it was less than twenty minutes before my eyes had opened again.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Varida yelled at me.
"I wasn't!" I snapped back walking down the hall towards my room. I felt disgusted with myself, "But hey, you said you'd join me remember? Why the sudden change of heart?"
"I was joking! I was just trying to get under your—,"
"Skin?" I finished the sentence for her, "You are always doing that aren't you."
Entering my room I shoved the door open, stripping my pants back off and throwing them to the ground as I walked towards the bathroom. She stood at the door and I turned on the shower, the water warming as I spun to face her. I didn't even care that I was naked and covered in blood.
Her arms were crossed over her chest, blood was stained along her one shoulder and across the purple fabric of her dress. Her eyes were inky, then slowly they faded into a dark blue before returning back to their normal icy colour. She shook her head, blonde hair falling over her shoulders.
"You almost did it again," She said, stepping towards me. "I don't want you to fuck up again. I don't want you to lose yourself again, I hope you know that. I was only joking with you the other day, I just wanted a reaction from you. Anything at all... you've been so distant."
"Well you were gone for months," I had said back. She didn't seem to like that response very much.
"A few months is nothing when you've known someone for so long, a few months is nothing when you have an eternity left to know someone."
She stood about a foot away from me, dropping her hands to her sides as she fiddled with the fabric of her dress. Her pale skin and blonde hair contrasted the dark purple satin and for the first time since knowing Varida, she had actually looked sad.
"Why do you do this shit anyway?" I had asked, wondering why she was always in the way, trying to be in my business, not that I was actually mad this time because if she hadn't shown up tonight I don't think I would've stopped. But I continued pouring my anger with myself, into her.
"Why do you always get in my business? I would love it if you just backed off."
"Because I care about you, Xav!"
"Well it's really fucking annoying," I responded which caused her entire body to stiffen.
"You don't think I know that!" Her voice trembled, something I had never heard before, "You don't think I hate that I care so much about someone who could give a shit about me?"
I scoffed at her, turning to get into the shower but she had reached her hand out. Grabbing my arm she pulled me back, turning me to face her.
Her eyes glistened.
"I can feel your emotions. You don't think I know you aren't interested?" She stifled a cry and I flinched, I had never seen her cry before, "I know that you don't like me, but that doesn't change how I feel. How I've always felt about you."
I wasn't sure what to say to her, to me she had always been just a friend. Despite the one fleeting moment we shared back in Vancouver, the one blood-frenzied kiss, she had always been like an annoying little sister.
"I can feel you right now. You're disgusted and angry with yourself. You would've killed her and I know you aren't mad I stopped you."
I shrugged her off, rolling my eyes at her though I knew she was right. I hopped in the shower, trying to ignore her as she continued talking.
