I tried to recreate the first night we met
Rewrite our story as it should have been
We decided we were no longer strangers from the line
He and I decided we were no longer strangers too
In the same place
At the same bar
At the same table
He had the eyes from across the bar
He had the cock little smile
He had the accent from across a sea
And he had me
And it was that I night I published the draft of as it should have been
It was a story with an ending that didn't break me
An ending that didn't break me like you did
I loved him the way i should have loved you- for one night only
