The next morning I woke up and I heard yelling. I looked over at my alarm clock and saw that it was eight o'clock am.

I knew one of the people that was yelling was my aunt but I didn't know who the other voice was. I got out of bed and put my ear up to my closed door being nosey.

The other voice was a man. I wondered if it was one of her guy friends. It sounds like they are in the living room. I heard my aunt say,

"No, she doesn't want to see you."

The man then said "I'm her father; she needs me."
I was surprised, shocked and anxious. I wanted to run out there and see him, but I decided to wait until they finished their conversation.

"I know why you're really here Roger." My aunt said to my dad.

"Oh, I want to hear this. Why do you think I'm really here?"

"You're here because you want Diane's insurance money that Angel is going to get!" She yelled so loud that I thought our neighbors would hear her.

"I knew you would say that."

"Yea, because we both know it's true. Angel is almost eighteen. Why else would you all of a sudden clean up your act and try to get back in her life it's fourteen years too late."

"No, that's not true and you know it Trisha! I have been going to drug addiction meetings for the past six months. I told you this over the phone when I first started going to my meetings. I even found an apartment near here and I have a job at that factory in Johnsonville out by the shopping center. Look I just came to see her today, but since you won't let me I will come back. I will leave my address and number for her. Please just give it to her and have her call me."

I heard the front door open and close. I couldn't believe what I just heard. I slid down to the floor still leaning against my shut door. I couldn't stand up anymore. I felt sick and betrayed.

How could my aunt not tell me about my mom's insurance money or about my dad trying to get his self together? I wanted to confront her so bad but I knew she would just deny it.

I finally got up and took a long deep breath. I opened my door and walked into the hall in search of my aunt. I first looked in her room but it was empty.

Then I went to the living room and it was also empty. The only other place she could be is in the kitchen. I walked in the kitchen and I found her sitting at the table looking at a piece of paper.

Her back was turned to me so she didn't see or hear me approaching. I tapped her on the shoulder and said "What's that?"

She jumped obviously startled. She immediately folded up the paper and put it in her jean pocket.

" It's nothing you should be concerned with."

My first thought was that it was the paper that my dad gave her to give to me. I had to get it from her. I really want to see my dad or at least talk to him. I don't get why she didn't just give me the paper. She should want me to have a relationship with my father.

I don't know why she is against him seeing me, that's her brother for crying out loud. I need to confront her and just tell her that I heard their conversation. She is going to have to tell me the truth then.

"You want some breakfast?" She said taking me away from my thoughts.

"Ye-yes, please." I stuttered a little, from my nervousness.

"Okay, go wash up and get dressed. I have something to talk to you about after breakfast."

"Okay" I said and walked away to get freshened up before breakfast. I decided I would confront her while we are eating breakfast.

Sorry for any mistakes.
