"Raquel..?!"
I looked up at him happy and surprised to see him. We haven't really been talking that much lately but I didn't really make it a big deal because we both have school and other things going on outside of school.
"In the flesh baby" He replied with his beautiful smile. His perfect white teeth looked like he could be on a teeth whitening commercial.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm a member at this church."
"That is so amazing. I guess I will be seeing you more then."
"You joined today?"
"Not officially but I'm going to very soon."
"I must be the luckiest guy ever. I get to see you at school and now on Sunday's too." He chuckled a little after saying.
"Whatever." I said shooing him away while blushing. I'm sure my cheeks were red if not turning red already.
"But listen I gotta go. My family already left out the church and I don't want them to be waiting for me any longer since I didn't drive today. I will definitely text you later though." He said hugging me and then running off out the doors of the church.
I waved bye before he turned his back and I blushed watching him walk or well in his case hastily walk away.
I soon started the search for my own ride. I walked back into the sanctuary to see other members talking amongst themselves and then I spotted my dad talking and laughing with the pastor. I walked over and tapped my dad on the shoulder. My dad smiled at me and immediately grabbed my hand as he started to introduce me.
"Pastor Williams this is my daughter Angelina."
My dad introduced me. I shyly smiled and said a simple "Hi."
"Well I am very happy to finally meet you. Your dad talks about you so much. He is a great man. He has overcame so much and you are his motivation. When he wanted to give up he didn't and I can tell that the fire inside of him that kept him going was you. Just keep doing what you are doing sweetie and try to keep your dad happy." He then said goodbye to both of us and walked away.
"You ready Angel?"
I shook my head yes and my dad let me lead us out of the church and to his car.
"How did you like service?"
"It was really great. I loved the message. Fear is something that I think everyone faces once or more times in their life. I know I have plenty of times."
"Yeah. You are definitely right about that."
We then sat in a comfortable silence and listened to the gospel music that played in his car. I noticed that he wasn't going the route to my house so I decided to ask where we were going.
"Dad, where are we going now?"
"I wanted to take you out for Sunday dinner if that's okay. Or does your aunt want you home by a certain time?"
I laughed inwardly remembering the talk me and my aunt had. I told him about how she and I had a little disagreement about him just picking me up and taking me wherever without notifying her or asking and he thought is was reasonable but he didn't feel it was right for her to be mad about it.
"I don't really feel like it today dad. I have school tomorrow and I want to go home and sleep. "
"Alright sweetie. We do have to meet up again soon. I have something important to tell you."
I just nodded my head while leaning my head against the window and falling asleep.
When I got home I went straight to my room and plopped down on my bed. I was just about to close my eyes and take a little nap before I had to get up and shower but that was interrupted with my phone going off signaling I had a text message. I soon started to smile from ear to ear when I seen the name pop up on my screen.
Text Convo-
Raquel- Hey beautiful.
Angel- Hi Raquel
Raquel- Dang, all I get is a 'Hi Raquel'.
Angel- What else was I supposed to say?
Raquel- Maybe 'Hey handsome' or 'Hey cutie'. Anything other than a dry hi. Lol
Angel- Smh....HEY HANDSOME! 😘😍😝
Raquel- See, now was that so hard.
Angel- Lol boy bye. You lucky I like you or I wouldn't have done it.
Raquel- Yeah, yeah. But let me get to the real reason why I texted you. Are you free Friday night. I wanted to take you out on a date.
Angel- I am definitely free and I would love to go out with you.
Raquel- Alright coo. I'm looking forward to it. I will hit you up later this week with details. 😘
I was so excited to finally be going on an actual date, especially with someone as cute and as sweet as Raquel. I then finally started to fall asleep with a smile on my face, until a knock came upon my door. I ignored it knowing it was my aunt coming in to bother me about dinner but I wasn't hungry and I just wanted to sleep. I figured she would go away but that was until she knocked again.
I groaned loudly and got up out of my comfortable bed to open my door.
"Yes, auntie." I said as I looked at her with a uninterested look on my face.
"I know you wasn't trying to ignore me. I knocked on this door more than once. What was you in there doing?"
"I was trying to sleep. What do you think I was in here doing?" I retorted back with much attitude.
She looked at me like I just cursed her and her mama out and I know I messed up then.
"I don't know who you are talking to like that but you will get messed up if you don't straighten out that attitude. That's the last time I'm going to tell you Angelina."
"I'm sorry. I'm just really tired. I just wanna sleep, please." I asked with pleading and tired eyes.
"Fine, but you better watch it." She looked at me one last time then turned around and walked away.
"Thank God" I said under my breath as I closed my door and plopped right back on my bed and finally started my way to a peaceful slumber.
Boring Short Chapter.... I know. I kind of have writers block but I'm trying to get through it.
