"The sun has risen quaintly, Kami. What is it that I shall do today?" The lady asks as she and the blonde man stand outside the shrine office.
"The rain from the day before is a blessing. Let us walk north to find some spices." The blonde replies and walks first, and the noble lady follows behind.
"Kami, you do not need to walk through this dampen forest. Let me do this task." The lady says.
"Can a noble like you find us some well spices?" The blonde retorts and the noble looks away bashfully.
"I believe my question is answered." The blonde says as he notices the silent reply of the woman.
"And most importantly, you are a woman with no experience of scavenging. You are a noble raised prim and proper by a wealthy family, and being a noble woman means you have never been out to the forest, alone at least." The blonde further adds.
"As the experienced one here, it is my duty to do tasks such as this. I am only bringing you with me so you will not be weary in the shrine." Says the man.
"Thank you, Kami. You are very thoughtful. It is indeed true that I was raised prim and proper, and I have never set foot in a forest." The lady says and the man hums.
"Well, now you have. Feast your eyes with the beauty of the pristine forest, freshly bathed by the rain." The man says and takes a slow halt, finally picking out some spices as he crouches.
"It is truly beautiful, Kami." The lady agrees and the blonde only hums in reply, continuing to pluck herbs.
A bright ball of pinkish light suddenly catches the attention of the lady, and she looks to the side to see a lone butterfly hovering over bushes.
"Oh my, Kami! This is the first time that I have seen such a quaint butterfly!" The lady gasps.
The blonde stood up and looked to where the woman was looking. There it is, indeed such a beautiful butterfly, that even the blonde was left speechless.
"Kami, butterflies such as this are messengers from the gods, are they not?" The lady asks, her eyes not leaving the butterfly fluttering around the forest near them.
"Yes, but butterflies symbolize a lot of things, noble lady. It is said that spirits from the dead are guided by butterflies as well." The blonde says and resumes to walk further into the forest to look for more spices.
The lady follows behind the man but also notices the beaming butterfly following them.
The blonde may have been left speechless at its beauty, but it felt like it was there flying around to mock him.
Because just like the butterfly, he has been wandering around alone in the shrine for so long.
"But it also symbolizes love, is it not? Maybe a lover of mine will be bestowed upon me soon!" The noble lady cheerfully says, but the blonde does not answer, as he has a different view of life from the woman.
"Oh my, Kami! There are two of them now!"
The man, surprised by the woman's declaration, looks back with curious blue eyes.
Two glowing pinkish lights were soaring with each other, following him and the noble lady.
"How peculiar, Kami! Is it that when two butterflies are together it means eternal love?" The lady heartily laughs. "But you are a god! And I am only a mere human, maybe these butterflies are messengers after all." The lady adds.
But the blonde man couldn't get his mind out of what the lady said.
