Lyndsey plays on her phone as we walk into town together. June following behind us with Megan and Leah. For some reason this adventure into town to have Lyndsey apply for a job became a group trip. Jeff is with us as well but I don't like him... He stays in the back.
I gave the application for the bakery to Lyndsey and she got so excited. She thanked me for hours then demanded when she was done filling it out to go to the bakery. It's been about three days since and now, she's gathered everyone to come with her. I look around and sigh, today is gonna be so annoying if I have to deal with.... I even hate his name. What is his problem? Why is he only hanging out with girls and why is he so... Secretive?
As soon as I got home the other day I got bombarded with questions from Lyndsey and June. June already knew who Devon was but Lyndsey asked me a million questions. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten home soaking wet because it made the questioning worse. I was able to handle a few questions but after a while it got way too annoying and i locked them out of my room.
we enter and the cashier from before greets us happily like she did the last time. when she notices me she brightens up, "its you again, Devon's friend!" I walk up to the counter and nod.
"yeah I'm back, I brought my sister also." she grins then looks at my twin standing beside me.
"hello! my name is Elisabeth. I assume you would like to apply for a job?" she addresses Lyndsey. my sister nods and smiles.
"yep! my name is Lyndsey Carter-Evans." she smiles and they shake hands. I don't miss from the corner of my eye everyone looking around at the breads and pastries. Lyndsey hands her the application and Elisabeth has her go into the back saying that the boss was there today and that she could do an interview right now. I lean against the counter and put my hands in my pocket as I wait for them to return.
" so when did you become friends with Devon Thomas?" Megan asks me as she comes and stands next to me.
I glance at her then back down. "none your business, and its Thomas-Burns." She raises an eyebrow at me and smirks. I glare in response.
"Defending him? Hmm. Well I think it's nice. I've never seen that guy well... Talk to anyone. For all the years I've known him he's been silent and alone." I watch her, the frown set on my face never fading.
"Then why didn't you talk to him?" I ask a bit harsh. I don't care how mean I sound, if she really cared she wouldn't have ignored him like everyone else.
"Well... I tried. We all did. But he would never talk to us." She said, it's all an excuse I can tell.
"Then why does he talk to me? He didn't even know who I was yet he talked to me." She opens her mouth to talk again but stops.
"I don't know why. I know nothing about him. But I did try and talk to him. He was silent and when I looked away he vanished. I had no idea how he did it but he was gone. From that point I decided to stop trying because it was useless. He's always been like that, escaping when people try to talk to him. So I have no idea why he would talk to you, a stranger he's never seen before. And I don't know why you would talk to him. From what I can tell you hate people." She crosses her arms over her chest and sighs.
"Never have I said I hated people. I only greatly dislike them. That doesn't mean I can't socialise. And maybe he talked to me because I didn't have any intention to make him talk to anyone other than myself." She frowns at my rude comment but I couldn't care less. Everyone that goes to the high school is in suspicion until I find who it is and created such horrible thoughts in his mind. I don't even know if I can trust June.
