July, the middle of summer. Which means there's little over a month left till school. I've been here in Rhode Island with my sister for three weeks. And barely anything has happened. Other than meeting some interesting people and almost getting shot its been pretty boring. Sleeping on a regular basis. Lets see, who all have I met...

Leah, the sporty Hawaii girl that constantly tries to out sass me. Megan, the nerdy peppy girl that has become best friends with my sister. Jeff, the suspicious man that hangs out a bunch of girls. And Devon. I can't say much about the kid because I don't know much. Other than he has pink hair and he's way too depressed for his own good. I know a little bit about his family, but that's his family. Not him. I will admit, this kid interests me... More than anyone else ever has. For some reason I want to know his story, an it pisses me off the more I think about it. A kid like him shouldn't hang around someone like me. Shouldn't even socialise with someone like me.

I guess that part is my fault, I'm the one talking to him. He's never started a conversation with me. I especially want to know what could push him to such a depression that would make him think taking his life would be the easiest way out. He's too innocent and quiet to be hated so much.

So then... Why is he?

• DEVONS POV •

Waking up from the sun shinning in though the window I yawn slightly and stretch. I wrap my heavy comforter tighter around me and try to fall back asleep but I hear the door to my room creak open. "Devon sweetheart, it's time to get up." My mothers voice fills my ears and I feel the end of my bed dip down. I roll over and look up at her, her red hair tied neatly into a beautiful braid despite her having nothing important to do today.

"Good morning." I smile at her, sitting up and kissing her cheek. She greets me with a kiss on my cheek as well and tells me that breakfast is ready. After she leaves I pulls myself out of bed and change into a simple t-shirt and shorts. I fix my pink hair once I get in the bathroom then head down stairs and sit at the kitchen table with my moms. Pancakes and bacon is already placed on my plate with a glass if orange juice sitting there. "Good morning." I greet my other mom with a kiss on his cheek. Go ahead and call me a mommas boy, everyone else already does. I don't care really because I love my moms and as long as they don't say anything about them I can endure the teasing. I start to loose my appetite as I think about returning to school again. Those people.. They're horrible. I try hard to forget about everything before I start crying and my parents see as I continue eating. My moms carry a normal conversation, about work and neighbourhood things.

After finishing my food I thank my moms then wash my plate, eager to get going with my daily routine. I slip on my shoes then say bye to my moms before leaving and starting to walk down the street. The day is hot as usual and many people are up already doing many things. Walking or jogging, playing with kids or taking their dogs for a walk. Either way everyone was so lively.

Crossing over the bridge and making my way into town I look around, almost window shopping but nothing is tempting to buy so I continue to the bakery. Every morning I come here and get freshly baked bread and cupcakes. The kids love them so I don't mind spending a little extra money. Elisabeth has worked at the bakery for as long as I've been coming here. She's a very sweet little girl. I don't mean young because she's older than me, I mean she's short and very thin. Her short brown hair is always tied back into a petit pony tail. Her tan skin is littered with freckles and her eyes always shine with a certain happiness, no matter how bad of a day she's had. She's been a close friend of mine for quiet sometime. And she's probably the only friend I have. She's never discriminated me or treated me wrong. She's only nice. "Good morning Elisa." I say as I enter.
