• AARON'S POV •
After a few days in the hospital Devon was finally allowed to go home. Although even then he spent a lot of time in bed either sleeping or worrying about school. I tried telling him several times not to worry about it and that the teachers understand but he wasn't having any of it. I would have to turn his alarm off without him knowing to get him from waking up in the morning. He'd always be a little mad with me but get over it quickly when I forced him to cuddle with me and stop complaining. And until he was able to go to school again I didn't have to go either. Both Sam and hope had there own jobs and I didn't want them to worry so I offered to take care of him for them. The only problem with all of this is I like to spoil him, barely leaving him. Only when he's sleeping do I really leave and go do something else for a while.
That's what I'm letting him do right now, he's asleep in his room while I sit downstairs doing some laundry. I also offered to help with some of the house work while hope and Sam are away. It's the least I could do for them letting me stay here for a little bit. I have the tv on low as well while I work to make it seem less silent in the house. When Devon is asleep it's almost like the house is abandoned.
I finish up with the load of laundry I currently have and check the time. Soon Sam will be getting home from work. I stand up and turn the TV off before heading upstairs and quietly going into Devon's room. I pull back the covers slightly and lay down with him. Very carefully pulling him closer to me by his hips. His arms go around me as he cuddles close and lays his head on my chest. His arms wrap tightly around me and buries his face in me as he yawns. "You're warm." He mumbles still rubbing his face on my shirt
Softly rubbing my hands up and down his back I try and comfort him, "are you cold?" He nods slightly, "do you have the window open?" He suddenly stops and goes silent. "It's too cold outside for you to be leaving the Windows open anymore." I tease with a grin.
"I know but I was hot." He whines and I roll my eyes.
"Get up for a second. I'm gonna close to window so you can warm up a bit." He moves off of me and I go close the window before returning to my spot. He cuddles to me again and I rub his back softly with my lips pressed against his hair. "Is your side still hurting you?" He nods slightly.
"Yeah but it's nothing too bad. I hardly notice it unless I'm thinking about it."
"Well that's good I guess." I laugh while he giggles pressing his cheek to my chest, a happy smile on his face. "I love you." He mumbles sleepily, leaving a permanent smile on my own face.
"I love you too."
"Can I go to school tomorrow?"
"No." I knew he was playing at something. I should have noticed when he tried to butter me up, acting so cute and clinging so close. Like he doesn't normally but this time it's only ten times more evident.
He frowns with puppy dog eyes, "A please? I can't stand sitting around here doing nothing all day. It's so boring." He begs looking genuinely depressed about being stuck at home.
Staying silent for a moment and looking down at him I feel myself begin to cave, "ugh, fine how about we go on a date? If you can handle the whole date with no problems... Then I guess I'll reconsider taking you to school." I sigh in defeat.
