Music has been your greatest passion for as long as you can remember.

So many people have doubted you, not only told you, but mocked how you wouldn't make it all the way, that you wouldn't make it to the top.

That's what made you unsure about your dream, but no one made more doubt towards you then your former best friend, who at the time, you had developed a crush on. Her name was Amy Lee, and just like you, music seemed to be her thing. What made her no longer supporting and encouraging you about it was when you won a talent show the school held and she came in last place as a result. The both of you attended the same high school together and that's where you had met, but shortly after winning, she wrote her own piece calling it "Listen to the Rain" and sort of getting promoted, if you will, when she was asked to direct it at a graduation.

Ever since the event, you took notice in how much she change, how much she acted like she was better then everyone else but more importantly, acting like she no longer wanted to be your friend. The friendship sadly had been put to an end in your junior year together and Amy turned out to be accepted in the crowd of the popular kids. As the end of your high school years was coming, her words were nothing but cruel, and mockery. Her words had left a mark on you like no other, she had told you couldn't be anything but an outcast the rest of your life.

For a while, you were ashamed to say you believed her, she had told you countless times you could never do it, that your dream was stupid and you'd never make it. Every time you looked at yourself in the mirror, the more determined you were to prove Amy wrong. You couldn't recall of the time you had started taking her harsh words as a challenge. You not only wanted to prove her wrong, you wanted to prove her wrong with everything you got, so you followed your heart and just went with the flow.

You now found yourself backstage, about to step in the spotlight and sing your heart out. Opening for Flyleaf was a dream come true, it was everything you had ever wanted. After your performance, you retreated backstage, that was when one of the guards, who happened to be your best friend, approached to you with a grin from ear to ear. You were practically vibrating with energy, the adrenaline rush you got with you from the excitement, it was enough for you to throw your arms around your friend, squeezing her tight.

"Did you see that?!"

"You were amazing!" She confirmed, nose scrunching in with her seemingly forced smile.

(F/n) took your hands in hers, bringing her attention back to you, though this time, she was a bit more subdued.

"There's someone here that wants to talk to you."

You blinked, confused by her sudden change in demeanor.

"Who?"

She only offered you a smile, and pulled you towards the door.

"You'll see."

You stopped short when you came face to face with Amy Lee for the first time since she threw those harsh insults at you.

Her hands were holding each other, if you weren't mistaken, you could see that she was nervous. What gave it away was an expression she wore that you no longer remembered to ever have seen on her. When Amy noticed your presence, she looked right at you with a small wave and an awkward kind of smile. (F/n) was aware of your past together and with her knowing how this might make you feel, she was more sensitive towards you, not wanting to upset you if didn't plan on seeing Amy again.

"Hi."

Hearing her say your name sounded strange, you blinked as you gained your composure in order to be able to speak.

"Hi, Amy."

"I.. I guess I wanted to apologize for the way I treated you back in our friendship days. After seeing you win, I started becoming aware of my own self doubt and I took it out on you, my best friend. Or my former best friend."

Amy's apology sounded like something someone would learn going to therapy. Er shoulders slumped a bit, her posture turning submissive.

"I was nothing more then a jerk to you. (Y/n) the way I treated you was, is unacceptable and I'm really sorry for the things I've said and did to hurt you. I hope- uh, I hope you can forgive me."

Honestly, this was the last thing you expected to hear from Amy's mouth, you weren't sure how to feel.

You had spent so much time and effort to prove her wrong, but she had turned the tables on you. It took a moment to find your words again, unsure of what else to say, given the weight of the apology she had just offered.

"Did you see the show?" You ask, feeling a little bit like a child again.

She gave you a hesitant nod.

"You were really good." She admitted, a small smile tugging her lips.

"You could come to the next show, if you want."

Amy's own smile remained small and almost hesitant before shyly looking up at you.

You realize just how much you missed this side of Amy, and how easy it was to find yourself liking it again. This version of Amy seemed so sincere, and a little uncertain as she stood across from you.

"I think... I think I'd like that."

It was in that moment your friendship mended, your friendship getting back on track.

Before you know it, the both of you become close together once more.
