the world knows

-Taylors pov- 

"what's up tree" I say, and I pick up "sorry, I haven't really slept tonight so just lay it on me"

"Taylor... were you in the children's hospital last night?" she says and my heart drops. I know where this is going, and I don't like it. 

"Well. Yeah... but I don't like how this sounds tree" I say and go into the playroom and close the door behind me. Please don't tell me that this is happening now... I put the phone on speaker and slide down on the floor with my back against the wall. 

"Some parent in the ER took a picture of you holding Ellie when you were taking a sip of water so they can clearly see its you" she says, and I close my eyes and feel like the world is ending. This will change everything forever, there is no going back from this.

"Fuck... this wasn't supposed to happen.." I say and rest my head in my hands. "Several media outlets are asking for a comment. And #taylorswifthadababy is trending on twitter. The picture is all over social media and all the news outlets too. It's really out there Taylor."

The words are hard to take because I've had a fear of the news getting out ever since I got pregnant in the first place. More than once have I woken up in the night and cheeked my phone to see if there are any pictures being leaked of her. 

"Well... I don't want to give a statement.. Its none of their fucking business. And who takes a picture of a child in a hospital? Like that's sick. Don't people have enough with focusing on their own sick child. I'm fuming with anger. She is a child, an innocent baby that had to take a fucking ambulance because she wasn't getting enough oxygen for god's sake." I choke on my words. All I want to do is protect her from the nasty world out there, but a hospital, the place she is supposed to be safe, is the place where her anonymity was taken from her. 

What were we supposed to do, take the risk of not taking her to the hospital because someone might take a picture. I would never do that, she needed to be there to be safe. But us trying to keep her safe has resulted in another reason that she will never be completely safe again. 

"that's your choice. I support whatever you and joe want to do. You're right, its none of their business. I'm so sorry it's happening this way Taylor. I know you; I know you didn't want this to happen" she says. 

"Can I call you back later? I need to talk to joe; we need to make the decision about what to do about this together." I say and take a deep breath. 

"Sure, call me when you're ready Taylor" she says, and I hang up. 

In an instant her innocent is taken from her, she will never have her anonymity again. From this moment onward her life is turned upside down. We have been so careful for months, ever since I found out I was pregnant, to keep the news to us selves. Sure we knew it would get out eventually, but we were hoping it would take longer. I just want her to have as normal of a childhood as we can give her. Because of my fucking job that's taken from her. 

Eventually I get up to find joe and when my bloodshot eyes meet his concerned eyes, I can't keep the tears away anymore. Quickly he gets up and come over to hold me while an unaware Ellie is still in her activity center next to us. 

"what's going on Taylor?" he says and kiss the side of my face. "The world knows. Someone took a picture of Ellie and I in the hospital last night" I say and choke on my words. This is my worst nightmare coming true. 

Our embrace is ended when Ellie starts crying ferociously so I dry my tears and pick her up "it's okay my little munchkin. Mommy will figure out how to fix this okay" I tell her but its more for myself than her. She is completely unaware that she has suddenly become the front of every headline out there, in an instant she went from just Taylor and joe's daughter to the daughter of Taylor swift.
