-Taylors pov-

"Ellie come to mommy!" I say as I come out of the kitchen where I've been baking a birthday cake four our little one year old. Like the turbo crawler she is she makes her way over to me and start to pull herself up, holding onto my legs. I lean down and pick her up before nuzzling my nose against hers. "Mama mama mama" she says and cuddle her head against my chest. "yes my little munchkin, mommy"

She is getting so big now and learning so much every day. The previously incoherent baby babble has turned into a few words. She can stand if she holds onto something and also walk if she holds onto something. We are moments away from actually walking, I can feel it on her. She is so excited to explore everything and it's so much fun.

"Are we going to go upstairs and dress in our pretty dresses before we are going to have some cake with family?" I ask her and she responds by nodding her head. She has gotten so good at expressing herself, with the few words she has or with hand motions or pointing. It's all signs that she is moving from a baby to a toddler now.

I take her upstairs to get her into a pretty pink dress with a pair of tights underneath and a pretty pink bow on her head. It1s not easy to dress her these days as she is loving to move around all the time, but I've learned tricks with time, so it goes fine most of the time.

As I finish up with her, I hear people arriving downstairs and I get really excited. My parents and Austin are coming over as well as joes' parents and Patrick have flown over form the UK to see us. They've been staying in our apartment on music row while they are here to have some space of their own.

"Are you exited to get some cake my little Ellie? And get presents? And see your family? They all love you. Just like I love you and just like daddy loves you" I say and tickle her tummy.

We go downstairs and meet everyone, and Ellie gets clingy at first before she warms up "Ellie, see its grandma Andrea, grandpa Scott, grandma Liz, grandpa Richard, uncle Patrick and Uncle Austin. See?" I point to everyone and after a little while she wiggles and want down on the floor to greet everyone.

She is going through a phase where she is sometimes sceptic to people that aren't joe or me, but apparently its normal around this age. In one second, she can sit and play with a toy on her own but then the next she will cry if she can't be snuggled in one of our arms. It's all about switching between dependence and independence these days.

My mom picks her up when she goes over to her "hi miss Ellie, you're crawling all around now aren't you?" she says and Ellie laughs. She loves laughing all the time, even if it's not really funny.

Everyone gets cuddles with Ellie now that she has warmed up, but she keeps looking for me to make sure I'm still here. It's so nice to see her bonding with our family because it's been a weird couple of years now that we have been living in this pandemic. We are so lucky that the travel restrictions aren't as strict right now so joes' family could come over. And my mom is doing good, so she felt safe enough to come too. I always worry about her, but she made sure to clear it with her doctor and that made me calmer about it.

"mama" Ellie says when she has had enough cuddles with other people, and I go and get her from Austin. When I hold her close to me, I kiss her cheek a million times, they're just so kissable.

Joe has put out the cake and we are ready to give Ellie her first taste of cake. We have kept the sugary stuff to a minimum, but it doesn't hurt to have it every once in a while. So, I hold her while joe lights the candle, and everyone starts singing.
