"Universal law of gravity?" the little girl muttered to the extremely tired Lilac who was to escort her to the washroom. "Hey! There you go. Hurry" Lilac ignored her question, pointing towards the vacant washroom. It wasn't like her to be acting unconcern towards strangers especially little ones like the girl who had just disappeared. But the issue was she was out of her mind now _drained of her sanity and clarity. She knew she shouldn't have gone for her daily combat and shooting class with the condition she was in, but there was also no way on earth her childhood instructor was going to let her off the hook even if he found out she was four month pregnant.
For the twenty two years of her life, all she devoted her time to was combat and shooting lessons. And it wasn't even because she loved it_but because her father wanted to get her busy. No school tolerated her continuous failure in all subject and inability to read and write. Not even her own mother who thinks she wasn't her real child and must have been switched with her own_ or her extremely beautiful and elegant smart sister who always find the excuse of denying her in front of anybody who could care to listen to her.
She was dyslexic. But it was only her father who seemed to fathom that idea, and it was only him that made her not want to commit a one time or no error suicide. She could not make it to college as she knew her father's money wasn't going to be of help to her trauma anymore. No college wanted a student with a continuos F record and also an inability to read and write. She understood them, because even her family couldn't stand her anymore. All she grew up to think of herself was a liability.
"I'm done! " , "I'm done" the little girl repeated when Lilac didn't look like she had heard her. Lilac brushed her fingers through her hair depressingly as she tried to look composed. "Ok, so let's go" she muttered, but didn't get any form of cooperation from the girl who switched her attention back to her face, specifically her eyes. God damn it_ she was in no mood to be answering to people why her eyes wasn't blue, brown, green, dark or grey but instead lilac. Her name. Coincidence right? Anyway it was her sweet grandmother who had suggested the name after setting her eyes on her.
"Is it a contact lens?" the girl sounded amused. More like she was also going to get some fixed on her eyes. Lilac wanted to say yes and just let the matter go. But the little baby that was growing in her uterus disapproved of it. It was like it was daring her to be one more time rude to the girl and then see what it would do to her. Funny right? That's what the baby had been doing to her right from day one. She didn't really know the father_as all she knew about him was he been the only son of a billionaire and even himself a millionaire. And that info she extracted from Silver, her coworker at both the cinema she was right now and the bar she would soon close and go later in the night, that's if she didn't collapse before then. He was her first, in fact he wasn't even supposed to be. It was all an accident_an accident she wasn't even sure calling an accident was fair, with the outcome of it. All she was asking of the fate that made her the bartender to help Nick Firestorm home is just to keep him away from her unborn child and her.
"What?" She pretended. The little girl frowned, "your eyes!"
"It's real and that's all I wish to say about it." Lilac tried to look and sound sane but was failing at it. God help her, she was more tired than the word tired itself. "Wow! This is really cool." The girl jumped excitedly like she had just won a lottery, "do you know how much I am going to make out of betting on the color of your eyes to my uncle and brother?" The girl sounded one hundred percent fulfilled and relieved, which was intensively weird. "Well I don't know. So tell me" Lilac was beginning to like the girl already. "Ok!" The girl grinned, "this is how I'm going to make the thousand of dollars.", "I'm going to just walk into the cinema to meet my uncle and brother watching that creepy movie they call universal law of gravity and just say you." The girl was trying to test her patience and intelligence. Both of the trait she was examining her of were traits nature denied her of. Intelligent, God knows she could never be. And patient blame her mother and sister for her not having it in her genes. "And that's all they are just gonna give you the money?" She surprised the little girl, because she was looking really impressed now with the way she was messing with her blonde hair. "Fantastic, we can really be good friends you know." , "not even my mother and uncle has ever passed any of my fuzzy test of patience and intelligence." She laughed, "I like you young lady with lilac eyes." She grabbed Lilac's hands softly as they walked back towards her cinema. "Ok, I'm just gonna tell them about your eyes, and you and I know how much they would want to disagree and you know what will come afterwards."
"Ok, then I will leave you here. I have to go back to my post, plus I wish you luck with your betting." Lilac gave her a clean look. "No! You can't go now!" The girl wanted to cry, Lilac cursed herself, "please! I'm so tired and really not myself right now." she added, "I'm even going to skip work." . The little girl didn't look convinced, "so how I'm I going to prove you to them? " She squeezed her face and slightly shut her eyes in a sad remorseful manner. Oh God, what has she gotten herself into right now? She had to think of a way to help the girl out but nothing was popping up in her mind and the little girl would not just stop pacing. "Ok! How about this?" , " I will take a picture of myself on my phone and lend it to you to use as evidence." She paused to look at the girl's reaction. "Will you?", The girl couldn't believe a stranger was lending her her phone. No one lends anyone their phone_not even their friends and she was lending her, a total stranger her phone. iPhone-6plus for that matter. She scanned the young lady with the lilac eyes as she took a selfie of herself and quickly passed the phone on to her.
"I have deactivated the passcode so you can get access to it.", Lilac tried to force a smile, "your name ?" , the girl caressed the phone in her little hand carefully in order not to drop it as she raised her head to Lilac and muttered, "Manuela", she added, "Manuela Smith", "and you?" She was curious.
"I'm Lilac Donovan." , Manuela smiled, "ok, nice meeting you. Will make sure to return your cute phone tomorrow." .
"ok I will be at the counter, and you know my name in case of anything." Lilac watched Manuela disappeared into the cinema after shaking her hand and wishing her luck.
