As the sun set, and the moon overtook it position. Gloria kept on wallowing in the sorrow of the death of her beloved husband in her secrete chamber, away from the sight of her workers and friends. They all knew her as a strong woman; and breaking down in front of them was really going to be a shocking experience. Not like she cared even_but it was more of a way of washing up ones gut of stains which are threatening to be a part of an outfit.
How could he just leave her like this when he promised her forever and till death to us apart_not suicide. Why were they all making her suffer like it was her fault they couldn't settle their differences amicably. Why did they even start the game in the first place if they knew it was going to cost them so much. Ruthless cowards! Ruthless devilish cowards! Gloria screamed in her troubled mind as she knocked her dressing table on the floor causing the mirror opposite to scatter into shards of glasses. If only her heart was void of love: if only she had listened to her mother and not allowed herself to get infatuated by Jake Donovan_things would have been pretty different and safe. Now see what love brought her; pain, anger, regret, frustration and worse weakness. Her breath was failing her with the way she couldn't stop crying and gasping. She needed to hold herself_she can't be weak! At least not now_ and ever! She was the daughter of her father, General Josh Lucky. He taught her to be everything but weak.
"Madam you have a call" a young brunette appeared in front of Gloria_she carried herself from the shards of glasses on the floor. "I don't want to talk to anybody; I only want my Jake back. I want him back!" She roared and groaned from immense emptiness and loneliness. All her life she had heard about broken-heart, little did she know it hurt more than a gunshot and total rejection from a father. Not even her father's rejection and undermine could be compared to the pain she was going through. And surprisingly for her_it threatened and promised not to ever disappear as long as she lived.
"Madam please he said its work and that it important!" The young brunette uttered decorously fearing what her mistress was going to do to her in her abject state of mind.
"Nothing is more important than my husband, do you hear me?!Nothing is more important than my husband; not even the stupid person on the phone, or the senseless job or even the chessboard. Nothing is more important than my Jake!!" Gloria fell to the floor out of weakness; the pain and weakness seemed to metastasizing very rapidly. The young brunette delivered her mistress statement to the caller and was entirely pissed and fed up when the caller asked her to say to her mistress, "Agent Daniel Cruz"
Gloria suddenly got her strength back on the mention of the name of her superior. Monster! What did he want from her_scoff or scorn her, she wouldn't be surprise. "Give me the phone!", she snatched the phone abrasively from the brunette. "What do you want?" She demanded gingerly, "hey! Calm down I mean no harm. I mean Jake was also once my friend." Agent Cruz muttered hypocritically professionally. "Well then go to hell and tell him that!" Gloria growled sentimentally. "I will take that for an advice" he teased.
"Whatever! Daniel, whatever! Just stay away from me!" Gloria spurted.
Daniel laughed, "how can I when I'm still very much in love with my sweetie-pie."
"I am not your foolish sweetie-pie Daniel, and if I haven't told you before, I would tell you now; I curse and abhor the very second I laid my eyes on you." Her voice morphed into venom, "and I hate and curse the very day I accepted you into my life. And believe I would have traded my eyes and hands and entire body just so that day hadn't happen. Just so I could just be rid of you." She cried secretly.
"Suit yourself sweetie-pie." He smirked, "plus don't forget the game is still very much in progress. Don't bend your head or move senselessly."
Gloria screeched from frustration and utter fury, "go to hell!" She smashed the phone on the wall with her very last energy.HILLARY BUDGED ANGRILY into Philip's penthouse feeling like she had been stabbed right in her throat. She still couldn't get the idea of her Nick acting familiar with Lilac; and the way he caressed and soothed her only worse things. Nick wasn't capable of emotion; she knew that, so why did he suddenly help the brat out. Always acting dramatic; how she wished Lilac was the one rather dead so that she could at least be the only survival Donovan progeny. And wouldn't have to watch Nick cling over her like they were some newly found couple.
"What cooking up in that dirty mind of yours?" Philip took off his coat. Feeling so tired he threw himself on his kingsized bed, ignoring the dirty look Hillary was throwing at him. "Seriously? I didn't know you as the thinking type. So tell, what is bothering your mind?"
"Mind your own business!" Hillary threw her purse on his chest irritatedly. "Ouch! Easy, I was just asking. Anyway your father's presence is been missed in the company."
"Is that supposed to make me feel better? Because if it was then I will be glad to disappoint it didn't." She chuckled, joining him on the bed. He was like her brother in actual sense, except sometimes their relationship morph into something sensual and sexual.
"Your phone!" He frowned and added, "it's ringing_I hate the noise"
"Whatever! I don't feel like speaking to anyone, so get used to it already." She grimaced.
After three rings, Philip grabbed the phone from her purse and swiped the phone to answer the call. "Hello! she is busy!" He muttered distressingly.
"I didn't know you were also her manager? I only thought it was some heated relationship." Nick uttered insultingly.
"Nick Firestorm?"
"Yes, sweetheart!" Nick teased, causing Philip to chuckle and sneer.
"Am I distracting some lovemaking? Or...."
"Or shut up for once!" Philip rolled towards Hillary to hand the phone to her. He was fed up of the insults already. Nick Firestorm never liked him_and it had nothing to do with his illicit affair with his girlfriend. It was just they that didn't click. Unlike him_Nick was too serious and unfriendly. He remembered their time in high school and college where he would lock himself up in the library and science laboratory. It was surprising he didn't turn out a physician or medical doctor like the oldest Firestorm. What he admired about him is his ability to turn girls away from him. There were times when he hated him for it_while others had to talk their ways to women, all he had to do was just show himself, a perfect example of masculine perfection.
