LILAC WOKE WITH HER FATHER already awake and dressed up for his Saturday morning hangout with his business associates. He was in a casual jeans and blue-black T-shirt. It looked like he didn't even like his home more than she did. She had training this morning and cursed through the sheets her father had wrapped around her_another working out episode, God help her.
"Don't you have training this morning?"
"I do, but my room is messed up and my body feels like hell on fire", she sat upright on the bed, "plus I don't feel like seeing anybody except you dad." She twisted her lip and blurted, "I love you dad. I don't know what I would have done without you."
Jake smiled at his daughters outburst, "you are a very strong girl. And as such there are so many things you can do and have done without me."
When Lilac gave him an are you kidding me look, he smiled and muttered, "for example is the baby growing in your tummy." He touched her belly and left his hand there for sometime. Then removed it when his daughter's mouth was widely opened in shock. It wasn't difficult figuring that out, because of the close relationship he had with his daughter. He knew her eye color and nature very well as well as her palms and skin color very much that it was impossible for him not to figure the new changes up.
"I'm so sorry for not telling you. I didn't know until it was almost two months." Lilac didn't want to jeopardize the trustful relationship between her father and her.
Jake smiled. He understood her perfectly, in the world that her daughter was living in, there was nothing like trust and nothing like mistake. Because one single aorta of a mistake could just get one signing his or her own death warrant. His daughter would survive the crazy and fuzzy world around her he was sure. She was stronger and wiser, he knew. Because it only took a wise and smart person to keep secretes like that, knowing the kind of home she was from and kind of attention she was going to get.
"Come on sweetheart. You don't need to be sorry. I'm proud of you." He grinned at her and continued, "you can't let anybody know about it. It's too risky." He knew he was sounding weird but he was running out of time and chances of explaining things to his twenty two year old daughter about the world that lay ahead of her and the battles that due to his mistakes she was going to have to suffer. How much he wish he hadn't committed those mistakes, no one knew. All in all, it didn't matter anymore because the autopsy was over, the dirge has been sung and the grave was sealed. He would have to face his fate and pray for his innocent kind hearted daughter to face her birthright. Life was really unfair to everybody. If one was to really look and think about things very carefully and intently, it wasn't only the poor that suffers_the rich also have their part of suffering to also play. Even theirs was even far more terrorizing than the poor_'cause, unlike the poor who didn't have much enemies and who most of the time their enemies where clearer and obvious to them, the rich and the affluent had theirs secretly embedded around and beneath them, waiting to strike and devour them. He was running out of time_the idea of his daughter pregnant filled him with great joy and happiness. At least she would have someone to want to live and fight for. It was what he feared anytime he looked into the future through her eyes. The fact that she only had him usually saddened his heart but now he couldn't think about that any longer. She had a reason to live and survive.
A reason to make him start changing the rule of the game_a game he had started right from the day she was born. A game that was going to change her life forever. He thank God for the lack of rules in the game for the first time in his life.
"I haven't been sleeping around. Please don't think of me as some bad girl Dady." Lilac tried to explain.
"No! my dear, it's not you I was just thinking about" he muttered when he realized his daughter had mistaken his vicious and demonic expression for her pregnancy situation. "I'm proud of you honey. I know you are a very good girl. And you haven't given me any reason to doubt you."
"Until now" Lilac said immediately to prove her point.
"Sweetheart, no! Seriously I'm not bored with you. I'm happy for you." He lightened his mood, "do you not know how wonderful it feels to be a parent?"
He grinned, "do you know how fulfilled and proud I feel anytime I look into your eyes especially when you smile?" He was glad when she threw a big smile at him to indicate she was now convince about his pride and trust in her.
"So how about the baby's father? how does he feel about it?"
Lilac didn't want to lie to her father any longer and so explained the whole incident regarding her pregnancy to her father including the man responsible. Her father had smiled at her very broadly at the mention of Nick Firestorm. It was more like a jackpot to him. Like he had won something, like something was going to change_but as usual deciphering her father's words and expression was like playing chess for the first time in once life. It feels very adventurous and fulfilling but scary and too complicated at the same time. She kissed him good-day on the cheek as she was watched him leave the room feeling like a complete winner. Her father was proud of her and supportive of her pregnancy as well_what else could she ask for more than just that. Ok! There is one more thing, that is for God to keep that incredibly handsome millionaire from her and her unborn child. She didn't want to share her baby. It was all hers and no one else's .
