Something Went Wrong

Izuku woke up to the sun shining in his eyes and the click of Katsuki's keyboard as he typed away at his laptop from the desk across the room. Judging from the persistent sunlight that was determined to blind him, Izuku judged that it was around 10 am, far later than he would usually wake up.

"Why didn't you wake me up, it's so late," Izuku grumbled groggily as he rolled out of bed and stumbled over to Katsuki's side.

"You haven't been getting enough sleep lately," Katsuki replied simply without taking his eyes off of the essay he was writing. Once he was focused on something, it took considerable effort to draw him away.

"Alright," Izuku hummed, "I'm going to go and get breakfast, would you like anything to eat?"

"No,"

Izuku nodded, patted Katsuki's head (he knew that his boyfriend got annoyed when he did that), and shuffled out of the room. Izuku's mind was still laden with a sleepy fog, maybe that was why he didn't notice Shinso until he was barreling into him by the lift.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry, Shinso! Are you ok?" Izuku fretted over his classmate. He stuck out a hand to help Shinso off of the floor, checking him over for injuries as he did so.

"I'm ok, MIdoriya, I'm not fragile enough for you to hurt me by simply knocking into me."

"Are you sure, that looked like quite a rough fall,"

"I'm fine, really. Though... you are a lot stronger than you look," Shinso joked. At least he attempted to, just like Aizawa, Shinso struggled to change his tone of voice to match what he was trying to convey. Luckily for him, Izuku was a master at deciphering the words of people who struggled to express their emotions (after all, he had known Katsuki for over ten years).

"Ok...good. How are you today? You look like you've been sleeping more," Izuku smiled.

"Ah, yeah. Something about these dorms make it so easy to sleep. Are the rooms soundproof?"

"Hmm... I think so. A lot of people have nightmares and scream at night, so I think the school put sound dulling technology on the walls." Izuku shrugged casually. Shinso looked at him incredulously and shook his head with an amused huff.

"It really shows the extent of what you've gone through when you can say things like that so casually, you know," Shinso laughed, "Most people would be concerned that teenagers are having nightmares so bad that they scream at night."

Izuku chuckled nervously and scratched the back of his neck. Sometimes he forgot that what he and his classmates had been through was deeply traumatising, to them, it was just another part of their lives that had come and passed. It was akin to a particularly stress-inducing test. It truly said something that they all just continued on with their lives as if nothing had happened.

"Yeah... Anyway, would you like to get breakfast with me, Shinso? I know that you have a bad habit of not eating breakfast," Izuku said. He started tugging Shinso towards the lift, to which Shinso gave little to minimal struggle.

"And why do you know that, Midoriya?" Shinso asked in an amused tone.

"Because I was observing you so that I could fill in your page in my analysis book for our class. I noticed that you're a bit more sluggish in the morning than after lunch, of course, that could be attributed to you having issues sleeping, but as I've said, you seem to be sleeping better. Also, I notice that sometimes your stomach will rumble rather loud at around 11 am, indicating that you're hungry for lunch, but also that you most likely haven't eaten yet. Not to mention the fact that I never see you at breakfast, unless you're drinking coffee, which I assume doesn't have much of an effect on you because you don't seem anymore awake after it. You've probably drank so much coffee that the effects aren't as obvious now, that happens when you take too much of a drug, and your body builds a resistance. It happened to me with paracetamol. I couldn't take it for a year because it didn't do anything." Izuku went on a tangent and Shinso listened with slight concern. The degree with which Izuku observed his classmates was, frankly, frightening and Shinso was glad that he was on their side and not that of the villains'.
