(He was my fav actor.... :-( RIP )
I just hear Zoe say >>Jon<< and then she collapses. I can barely catch her before she falls head first on the cobblestones.
I look down at her as she hangs in my arms with an ashen face and closed eyes. How can she know the prince and my best friend?
Frowning, I look up where Jon is holding his speech. I do not hear what he is saying anymore. For a moment our eyes meet. Worried, he looks down at the unconscious girl in my arms and immediately forgets what he wanted to say and his eyes widen in shock.
The crowd murmured as he has his fluency stopped so suddenly. Jon indicated with a small head movement, I should come to the palace. Then he smiles to the people and apologizes >> It seems I've forgotten my text. Please excuse my little mishap. Somehow I forgot to eat my breakfast this morning and on an empty stomach, one cannot speak well, as you all probably know already.
The people laugh and Jon continues his speech. I pack Zoe with my other arm under her knees and began walking toward the palace. Who would have thought this morning how absurd my day would be, when I left for the forest patrol.
Unsuspecting, I galloped through the forest to search the way for bandits. As soon as I'm in the forest, i hear war cries from many men. I tie my horse a little away from the road to a tree, that it will not be seen from the road directly.
It would be a shame if I had to run all the way back to Thissos. I follow the shouts and laughter of men who hopefully prove to be the sought bandits.
Thus, my job would be done quickly for the day and I could get back to the city to celebrate myself with my female acquaintances. What I did not expect, is a young woman who fights against a bunch of big men.
I mean properly defending herself. Crying out she jumps up and slams her fist in the nearest bandits nose. Flabbergasted I watch as she followed the punch with a kick in the poor mans best pieces (subconsciously I'm holding my own crotch) and then with a skilful blow she knockt him out.
That is something I had never seen before. Of course, in the past i was often involved in bar fights, but this woman puts most men to shame. She moves so gracefully and with a elegance that a man could never reach.
Still shocked by the spectacle that is happening in front of me, this little warrior pulls a dagger from her boots. The long blade flashed in the sun briefly before she glares at the next cutthroat.
The bandits stay rooted to the spot in shock as their former prey cuts the second man the Achilles tendon of the left leg. His crying wakes the others from their paralysis and attack, which in turn brought me out of my numbness.
I climb up the tree next to the girl so I can rush into battle at the right moment. But I should have known that these hoodlums don't fight a honorable battle with a woman, as one of the three is sneaking up on the girl from behind.
Her, in turn have noticed, but can not do anything because she was up against the other two. I see the desperation in her eyes and then I throw myself on the man below me with bellow.
I buried the body below mine and I'll break his neck with a short cracking sound. The young woman tries to turn my way briefly to see what happened and in that moment the bandits strike their distracted victim.
