Unknown POV
Finally, these "fake pains" have disappeared as well as the urgent feeling that I have to do something. I shake my head in bewilderment. Something I have never experienced before and I do not know why.
But I do not want to and will not let myself worry about it, because I have to do more important tasks. In addition, Jon and Edward, who probably felt the same as I, investigated the whole affair.
I watched as they left the palace hastily. To ask whether they really feel the same as me, I dare not. Because if this is not the case, they will probably send me into an institution for the mentally ill and relieve me of my job.
Relieved I walk down the hallway, trying to put my thoughts in order. I can not afford it in my line of work to be inattentive.
Zoe POV
My pain is gone I lean facilitates back into the fluffy soft pillows and breathe out liberating. >> I do not know why or how, but I'm glad that the wound has closed. How about you? << I ask with a sidelong glance at my companions.
They look at least as bad as I do. Edward has probably several smaller cuts on his arms from Butcher, Steven and Benjamin do not look better but it seems the best to go is Jon.
Apart from a few scratches and dirt everywhere he looks fine. He shrugs >> I've done nothing except pushing you out of the danger zone. << Edward is still somewhat dazed by his newfound powers and so he answers narrowly >> It's not bad. <<
Benjamin sighs theatrically and throws himself into a suffering pose >> I die! This perpetual stabbing pain burns deep in my guts! Zoe Love, you need to nurse and care for me, then I definitely will feel better! <<
Meanwhile Steven twisted annoyed his eyes >> We are fine. You got the worst, so do not worry. The few scratches will be healed in a weeks time. Apart of this ... What do we do now?<<
Before one of us could respond Ursel interferes >> Zoe and Jon, you can quietly retire to your room and get a hat full of sleep. Your others will be treated by me and then you will remain here overnight. Better safe than sorry. Now hush hush! Out you two! I have to work. <<
And so is any intention on our part to plan null and void. We get up, say goodbye and close the door behind us. I can still hear a muffled >> Why can not Zoe nurse me? << By a pouting Benjamin but all the other sounds from the inside are too low in order to understand them.
>> I'll go and get a chamber set ready for you, so you no longer need to head back to the hostel today. I also suggest you to stay here as long until we have cleared up this whole matter. Because I believe it takes some time to defeat the evil.<<
He winks at me. Yielding I sigh and shake my head. I do not like to "live" in the palace because I do not belong to the upper class, and I'm not supposed to be here. But he's right that all of us best should stay together.
Also, I do not want to put my family and village at risk if the shadow should track me down there. >>As you wish "my prince". But I have to go back to the hostel tomorrow to get my stuff and Lilien. I can not just let them there.<<
>>This should not be a problem as long as two of us go with you, since Butcher is still out there and is out for revenge. << Again I sigh, but he is right again. Sometimes life takes paths that we would otherwise never enter voluntarily and that bothers me.
