Rise of the Guardians

Chapter 1: Introduction

"Darkness. That's the first thing I remember."

A shadowy figure was floating towards the surface of a frozen lake.

"It was dark, and it was cold. And I was scared."

The figure slowly opened his eyes to reveal a pair of bright blue eyes.

"And then, I saw the moon."

The ice that covered the lake began to crack.

"It was so big, and it was so bright."

The figure broke through the icy surface and floated up into the air.

"It seemed to chase the darkness away. And when it did, I wasn't scared anymore."

The boy floated down onto the ice covered lake as the cracks sealed themselves up.

"But why I was there and what I was meant to do, that I've never known."

The boy examined his hands and his attire, and his surroundings. He was in the middle of a forest.

"And a part of me wonders if I ever will."

The boy looked up at the moon for a moment before he started walking along the ice. As he walked, his foot hit a wooden crook that was lying on the ground. He nudged it with his foot and it frosted over. He picked it up and it glowed for a moment and created frost all along the ground.

The boy tapped the end of his staff against a tree and a frost appeared on it. He smiled brightly and started running, or more like slipping, along the lake dragging his staff along the ground creating more frost.

Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew and the boy was lifted into the air high above the trees. The wind stopped and he fell down hitting a couple branches. He latched onto a large branch to stop himself, and laughed out loud. From the branch he noticed a town in the distance.

The wind carried him to the town and he shakily landed on the ground. He dusted himself off, laughing before walking around.

"Hello. Hello. Good evening ma'am. Ma'am?" He greeted people as he walked, but for some reason, no one was talking to him.

A kid ran up to him and he tried to get his attention.

"Oh, uh, excuse me. Can you tell me where I am?" He asked the little boy.

However, the boy just ran straight through him, as if he wasn't even there. He gasped in shock and started breathing heavily as other people walked right through him.

"Hello?" He called.

He started running around the village, panicked and confused. Because of this, he wasn't looking where he was going and ran straight into someone and fell down.

He looked up shocked and saw a girl standing in front of him. She had (h/l) (h/c) hair, (s/c) skin, and pretty (e/c) eyes that where wide with surprise.

The two stared at each other in shock, before the girl held out her hand to help him up. He took it hesitantly and she helped him stand up, surprised that his hand didn't go through hers.

"Can you see me?" They asked at the same time.

"Yes." They said at the same time again.

"How is this possible?" The girl wondered aloud.

The boy was about to respond, when two figures walked through each of them.

"Oh...they can't see you either." She realized.

"Uh...n-no, they can't. Do you know why?" He asked her.

She shook her head no. "I'm sorry."

The boy looked down with sadness and the girl felt sorry for him.

"What's your name?" She asked sheepishly.

The boy thought for a moment. What was his name? He was about to say he didn't know, when he suddenly looked up at the moon. He turned back to the girl.

"My name is Jack. Jack Frost." He said.

"Nice to meet you Jack. I'm (Y/n). But most know me as Cupid." She introduced.

"Cupid?" He said in confusion.

Two giant white fluffy wings suddenly appeared behind her. Jack took a step back in shock before a look of awe replaced it.

"Come on. Let me help you out of here." (Y/n) offered, holding out her hand.

Jack took it without hesitation and she began to lead him out of the village.

"My name is Jack Frost. How do I know that? The moon told me so. But that was all he ever told me. And that was a long, long time ago."
