When I wake up again, Peeta is still laying in my hospital bed with me, warding off any potential nightmares from coming. I lay on my side and watch him sleeping until he wakes up and I see his wonderful eyes. It takes everything in me to keep from kissing him.
"Good morning," he says with a husky voice. He stands up, and I immediately feel much colder. The nurse comes in with a tray of breakfast on it with the same old bland oatmeal and water I've had for the past three days here.
"After you're finished with your breakfast, you can leave the hospital, Miss Everdeen," the nurse says as she walks out the room. I shovel spoonful after spoonful of oatmeal into my mouth and quickly chase it down with water. I hop out of my bed and run out of the hospital as fast as I can before getting stopped at the reception desk to fill out discharge papers. Peeta follows behind laughing at my actions.
Still in my hospital gown, I step out of the hospital for the first time. It's then that I notice a patch of dandelions that I'm certain weren't there when I was first admitted. I bend over to pick one, and when I come back up, I turn to face Peeta. He knows what the dandelion means to me, how it was my hope in the spring after my father died in the mine explosion, but this simple flower, this weed, is also Peeta. He's infectious, and everything about him brightens peoples' days.
I smile as I look at him, and he takes the dandelion from my hand and puts it behind my ear. He stares into my eyes with one hand on my neck, and the other holding my hand. Our foreheads touch, and I realise that I'm finally getting my boy with the bread back.
A/N: Man, I'm super sorry for taking soooo dang long to update! And that it's short and boring. I found a dandelion so I got unblocked a bit. I feel like an awful person. After May 14th, I should be able to pick up more on the updating. But my three AP classes still have projects, so I'm not 100% sure yet. I'll try though!!!
