Spring. A season where trees blossom and flowers bloom. A season where a lot of things come to life. Unfortunately, it also meant spring cleaning, something you had no interest in. Your mind wandered to how you could spend your time for spring, what you could do. Then it landed on your beloved, Hayate.

The apple of your cheeks blushed a shade of red as the fruit. Your eyes glanced at the calendar that hung on the side of the wall. He would be home today. You looked at the state of your shared home, a disaster area of a living space. You knew Hayate would be exhausted after a mission, maybe you could start cleaning up? They say it relieves stress and when you're done, you can prepare a cup of warm tea for him. Great, now you're the one who's spoiling him. Doesn't matter, he is your lover after all.

First, you tidied the clothes scattered all over the living room and the bedroom. The stale scent of the room wavered but was still present, so you opened the windows. Then you washed the clothes. As you waited for them to tumble in the washing machine, you vacuumed the rooms - as your cat watched from the couch - the vacuum ended with more cat fur than dust. Finally, you took out the clothes and folded them until-

     "Ouch!"

The clattering of an eating utensil rang against the kitchen tiles. Apparently, a fork had disguised itself amongst the pile of laundry. You didn't care much as you tossed it into the sink.

     "Meow."

Your attention was drawn to the stool by the kitchen island counter. Your cat sat on the safety of the stool, away from the hazardous laundry pile. Well, the previously hazardous laundry pile.

"Don't look at me like that. You can't distract me with your cuteness so proper cleanliness can be ignored for another day."

The cat gave you a glare as if it knew you'd been avoiding cleaning for a long time. Despite your words, your body inched ever so closely towards the adorable creature, landing your hand on its back, caressing it. You still couldn't believe there was an oversized cotton ball, living in your home, needs you to untangle it from the most obscene messes it found itself in, and the little creature still thinks it's the boss.

"Aren't you a funny one?" the cotton ball meowed, offended, but still couldn't pull itself away from you. Your pats and scratches must've felt too good. You took a metal bowl and poured food cat into it. As soon as you did that your fluff ball scampered towards it, its legs carrying itself as fast as it can go. As it ate your cat every once in a while will nuzzle its head to your palm, letting you feel the delicate fur you and Hayate have groomed. "You really are hungry."

"Hey, I'm hungry too." you whipped yourself around to see your beloved, pouting by the doorway.

"Hayate- since when have you been there?"

"Since you called our cat funny. I believe I hold that title." you strode to your pouty lover, when you stood before him he let his chin rest on your shoulder, his arm looping around your waist, embracing you. Sweat-soaked vest and sleeves rubbed off against your clothes, but you didn't care.

"Come on, let's sit on the couch, our legs will go numb." leading a tired Hayate to the couch, you let him lie face down on it. Once you sat next to the arm of the couch he moved so his head was rested on your thighs. A ball of fur leaped on Hayate's belly, settling itself on it, which made Hayate jump a little. You giggled, thumb caressing his hair.

"Can we stay like this for a while?" the question was followed by a purr from your cat, perhaps asking the same thing.

"Of course. I'm tired of cleaning anyways." your answer was interrupted by an unexpected ear-piercing meow. You glared at the cat while Hayate laughed.
"What's that for little guy?" he scratched the cat's neck.

"Ok, I admit it, I only did laundry. But still- it counts. Do you wanna help me out later?"
"Nah. I still wanna stay here." you nodded. Your hands felt as if they needed to do something other than mindlessly letting and spoiling him. So, yougrabbed a few locks of his hair, slowly twisting them to a braid. Hayate was grateful for the attention. His work is exhausting and mentally draining, often leaving him in desperate need of some tender loving care after a long day hopping around, dealing with Gai's shenanigans. Once you've finished the braids he'll mostly grin or giggle at your tiny braids.

"Thank you so much, (Y/n)." he slurred, eyes closing, not quite asleep yet, just enjoying the feeling of your hands buried in his hair. It wasn't quiet, but peaceful.
