As mentioned in the description, this work is based off of Journey to Somewhere New by @ghsjixv here on Wattpad. In Chapter 22 of her work, a side character named Da-Xia is introduced, a young woman that owns a poem parlor where one can commission poems to be written based off of any given topic. Monkey ends up having her write a handful of short poems for the MC as a way to support her while she's busy with her studies at a university. This character was created by me when the author proposed a collaboration where I wrote poems for her to use in the story, which was a lot of fun! Readers seemed to like the poems and I loved Da-Xia's simple yet impactful involvement in the plot. Since she's very much based off of myself, she seems to have a knack for giving relationship advice and has really good people skills in general. I was recently struck by an idea involving Da-Xia and a few other characters, where she essentially gives them a lesson on how to interact with women and get a successful date. I mentioned it in the comments of Chapter 24 and the author was a fan of the idea, so here I am, writing a fanfic based on a fanfic. As I've started writing, the idea has evolved a bit, but I still think it's a lot of fun, so here we go.
Originally I was going to have it be a one shot with all the intended characters meeting at once, but I decided it would make more sense to do them individually. Maybe I'll write something towards the end involving all the characters just for extra laughs, but we'll see what happens. So far the characters I have ideas for are Macaque, Bao, Cheng Liu, and possibly Red Boy. Other characters may or may not be added as I get more inspiration. If you're reading this and you have an idea for a character I should do or for something that should happen, I would be thrilled for you to say so in the comments! Can't promise I'll use the idea, but this fic is proof that greatness comes from collaboration and teamwork.
This is all just me having fun with an idea, none of it is written to be canon to Journey to Somewhere New, but I will do my best to keep everyone in character as much as possible. Think of it as kind of like a spinoff.
Each chapter will have at least some poetry written by yours truly.
