The Past

Prologue

"TAEHYUN, GIVE ME MY SKATES BACK", Taehyung yells down the hall to his twin brothers room. "COME GET THEM", Taehyun yells right back. "Gah, you are pain in my ass sometimes", Taehyung says. "Whatever, you love me more than anyone and you know it", Taehyun says. "Why are you all dressed up", Taehyung asks curiously. "I have a date little brother, wait till you see him he is magnificent", Taehyun says, "do I look okay." "I guess and stop calling me little brother you are only two minutes older than me", Tae pouts. Taehyun laughs, "Ill always be the big brother, so deal with it." "Hyun, your date is here", the twins mother calls up the stairs. "COMING", he yells checking himself one more time in the mirror.

Tae is curious who his brother is taking out, Hyun has never mentioned liking anyone and why is Tae only finding out now. He walks downstairs and hears his mother talking to someone, when he walks into the kitchen he stops and stares, his brother wasn't kidding, this guy is breathtaking, he's gorgeous. "Taehyung come here and meet Seokjin, Jin this is Taehyun's twin brother Taehyung, Tae this is Jin", my mother introduces us.

"Hyun mentioned you were fraternal twins, wow I cant believe the similarities and differences all at once, it's very nice to meet you Taehyung", his angelic voice reverberates in my ears. "Yea, you too, I'll go see what's keeping him", I run back upstairs, "hurry up dufus, he's waiting." "I'm coming, I had to pee", he says fixing his shirt. "Are you two serious", Tae asks.

"It's our first date but I can see forever with him, he is perfect in every way Tae, I think I'm already in love, why you like him", he says smiling from ear to ear. "No, why would I, I dont even know him", I argue. "But you saw him right, you fell, I can see it in your eyes", he tease. "Shut up and go on your stupid date already", I say storming out of his room. I hate that he knows me better than I know myself, its annoying.

Taehyun and Seokjin dated all thru high school and then college, after they graduated they moved in together, as for Taehyung, him and Taehyun grew apart during their college years, Tae was jealous of Jin taking his brother away from him, he hated Jin and ended up moving away from home and away from his brother because of it.

A year later his brother called to tell him that he was going to be an Uncle and that he wanted to come see Tae, spend some time with him because he missed him, Tae of course agreed, he misses his brother just as much. When Hyun arrived on Tae's doorstep they hugged and cried uncontrollably, "Look at you little brother, you aren't so little anymore." Tae wiped Hyun's tears and invited him in, they spent the next two weeks being the twins they have always been, Hyun met Tae's girlfriend and they found their twin bond again.

The night before Hyun was going to leave they were sitting on the couch drinking beers and watching football on TV, "Taehyung I've been wanting to talk to you and with me leaving tomorrow, I need to say this to you so that we are on the same page." "I dont know if I want to get to deep here brother, we have been good for two weeks", Tae says cautiously.

"Just hear me out, I know that you dislike Seokjin because you think he kept me from you but that couldn't be further from the truth and I hope that in time you will cut him some slack and accept him and my child as part of your family, it was me Tae, it was me who kept us apart and I lost Jin because of it, he wouldn't marry me and we split up for about six months but then we decided to try to make it work if I promised to stop being so possessive", Hyun says wiping his tears from his cheeks.

"What are you talking about, 6 months, that makes no sense", Tae tries to argue. "I was, shit who am I kidding, I still am obsessed with him, whenever I would tell him that I was going out with you he would make plans with his friends and my jealousy took over and I would cancel my plans with you and blame Jin saying he didn't want me to go out, I am so sorry Tae, it got to the point I wouldn't let Jin go anywhere without me and he was getting tired of it, he threatened me many time that he would leave me if I didn't stop and he finally did, when he came back I told him I would and allowed him to go out with his friends but I followed him, I would stalk him so that I could keep an eye on him", Hyun says ashamed. "Fuck Hyun, what the fuck, I dont get it, why", Tae asks confused.

"Your aren't blind Tae, you have seen him, everybody wants him, everybody who meets him falls in love with him, I wasn't joking when I told you back in high school that he is perfect, he is utter perfection and I couldn't stand the thought of someone touching him or talking to him, so I stalked him", Hyun says. "Do you still", Tae inquires, curious if his brother needs mental help.

 "Not as much, after he refused to marry me I cut back a lot and now that he is pregnant I've cut back even more, he stays home most of the time unless he goes out with mom", he says scrubbing his hands over his face, "so please I'm begging you, get to know Jin and please be a part of your niece or nephews life, I want them to know you and how fucking incredible you are." He sits next to Tae, taking him in his arms and hugging him, Tae hugs him right back.

Six months later is when the doctors found the cancer, they told Hyun and Jin that he could live another year maybe more, Tae tried to be there more but couldn't handle the way the family started treating him and he couldn't handle seeing his brother sick, Hyun was his hero, his role model, his big brother and Tae wasn't strong enough to be there.

Jin tried a few times to reach out to Tae but he ignored him, Tae still couldn't see Seokjin any differently, even after Hyun explained that it wasn't his fault. So Jin stopped trying and spent every waking moment making sure that his boyfriend was comfortable and happy, he was due any day now and Hyun was ecstatic.

Hyun got to see Lennon's 4th birthday before he started to succumb to the cancer, they admitted him to the hospital and gave him only days, the cancer had spread so quickly they couldn't keep up with the treatments. When Tae got the phone call from his mom, he was in his car and on the road in less than ten minutes, 6 hours later he pulled up to the hospital, making his way to his brothers room. When he walked in Taehyun smiled and held his arms out to him, Tae was in his embrace in seconds, Jin stood and said he would wait outside, not saying a word to Taehyung, who didn't let it go unnoticed.

Kim Taehyun passed away at 4:15 am on a sunday morning, surrounded by his family and laying in his boyfriend's arms, Seokjin held him and talked to him, telling him that everything will be fine, that they will go on vacation when he gets better and that Lennon wants to learn to skate like her daddy and that if he gets up out of the bed he will take him home and make all his favorite foods. Everybody in the room was sobbing and heart broken seeing Jin and how he hasn't quite come to terms with what happened. Taehyung stood stone still, looking out the window not believing that the only person who loved him and understood him is gone and that he is never coming back.
