"Are you coming to the carnival or not?" Mike asked casually.

"Why would I come to the carnival? It's for kids; I am not a kid; I don't own a kid."

"Why would you own a kid?"

"You know what I meant."

"You have a girlfriend; why don't you take her."

"A girlfriend who's significantly older than me, mind you. I doubt she would be excited about a carnival."

"You won't know until you ask her."

"Maxxx..." Shawn came running towards me.

"What?" I said, getting in a defensive position to about getting smashed like the last time Shawn came running towards me.

"It's Friday,"

"So," I said, still keeping my stance.

"You have a date."

"I don't." I relaxed.

"But she said OK, that doesn't mean no," Shawn continued.

"It doesn't mean yes either after Monday. She hasn't contacted me; she hasn't talked to me. If and that is a big if we are still on, I don't know when are we going and where are we going."

"I have a feeling she would contact you," Shawn said.

My cell rang with a text.

'Meet me after class. It's Hailey.'

"How the hell did Hailey get my number?"

Both me and Mike looked at Shawn

"What did you do?" Mike said.

"She finally talked to me," Shawn said excitedly.

"What for?" Mike asked.

"To ask for Max's number."

"Yeah, why are you so excited dumbass? She talked to you to ask for Max so she could go out with him because she has a crush on him.", Mike exclaimed.

"Yeah yeah, but Max has a girlfriend, so he will never date her, so it's a start for mine and Hailey's story."

"Dude, you sound so pathetic," I said finally.

"you two wait and watch; anything can happen at NYU."

After class.

I waited outside the class for Hailey, and sure enough, she came straight to me; I could feel eyes on me; people were waiting for some drama.

"Where are we going? I am free tonight." She got right to the point.

I stuttered for a second because I was not expecting this and hadn't planned for this.

"Great, you didn't plan anything."

"that's not true; I planned for us to go to the carnival."

"The carnival" the carnival she narrowed her eyes.

"yes"

"Wear something nice; I'm gonna take photos for my insta."

"Ok," I answered.

"If we are going to convince people that we went on a date, then they are going to need proof. After this, we can both go our separate ways."

"ok."

"I'll meet you at the entrance at 8."

"ok."

"sooooo," Mike said, expecting me to spill the beans.
