|03 : A sister's fate
The kingdom was busier these days, the preparations for Rapunzel's proclamation keeping everyone busy helping with the preparations for the ceremony. The King was in the castle's courtyard, doing quality control, and overseeing the preparations and food for the event while the Queen was in the castle with her two daughters, Rapunzel and Azazel getting their measurements from a group of seamstresses.
"Isn't this exciting Azazel? I'm gonna be a ruler soon!" Rapunzel asks her sister, face filled with excitement at the upcoming events "Oh my goodness... I feel so nervous, calm down Rapunzel. Everything's gonna be okay. Oh no, I feel so anxious—" Rapunzel complains shaking her hands while shifting around on the wooden stool she stood on making the seamstress have a hard time measuring her waist.
"Rapunzel, calm down." Azazel hissed at her sister, eyebrows furrowed and arms crossed. Finding Rapunzel's behavior mildly annoying "I'm sorry sis, it's just— I'm gonna be a ruler and oh my god, I can't be more happier! And nervous..."
"Plus, isn't all of this exciting? We get to celebrate and party in pretty dresses!" Rapunzel went on imagining what the ceremony would've had in store for them, Azazel turned her head away, rolling her eyes and shaking her head in denial "I'm not a child Rapunzel, you don't have to hype me up" Azazel solemnly says to Rapunzel who glanced at her, taken aback by the cold remark.
"Now, now, Azazel, you should be excited for your sister's ceremony, it's a ceremony for the future of our kingdom" Their Mother scolds Azazel, receiving a gloomy look from her.
The room's tension became awkward and tense, the shuffling of the seamstresses becoming the only source of sound within the quiet room.
Rapunzel began fidgeting with her long brown hair noticing the obvious shift in the air "So... Mother, Uh... It's nice you decided to get me and Azazel a customized dress for the occasion" Rapunzel says sparking a conversation with their Mother
"Indeed it is! It's a special day for you! Everyone's looking forward to your ceremony. After all, it is tradition that the eldest is next in line for the throne" Their Mother beams up holding her older daughter's hands with a big smile on her face. Azazel watches the two from a distance, the sight of her mother endearingly talking to her eldest sister giving her mixed feelings.
"Are we done yet...?" Azazel asks the seamstress in a hushed tone, the seamstress shakes their head 'no' making Azazel let out a disappointed sigh "Get me out of here" Azazel mutters to herself waiting impatiently.
Once the seamstresses were done, they stepped back from the two princesses "We're done, your Highness" The two princesses stepped down from the small wooden stool, Azazel wiped the dust off of the wooden stool before she sat down on it resting her face on her knee.
Watching their mother talk with the seamstresses discussing the design of the dresses. Staring at her mother talk about the quality, designs, and amount of detail she expected from the dresses.
"I want tons of flowers embroidery on Rapunzel's dress"
Azazel closes her eyes taking a moment to cool down.
"Don't even dare put my second daughter in unsightly bright colors— Make sure her dress looks ravishing as well,"
"Minimize the poof, how will the two enjoy if they have to deal with tons of petticoats?"
Rapunzel sits down beside Azazel, leaning close to her sister to whisper something in her ear "I bet your dress will be gorgeous, sis" Rapunzel whispers to Azazel who opens her eyes then glances at her "Doubt that, you're the star of the show now, Rapunzel. Not me." Azazel replies, her tone sounding stiff and tired. Rapunzel leans back, taken aback by her sister's response and tone. Their conversations were always very lighthearted and calm.
With the news of Rapunzel's proclamation, Azazel's response and tone became more aloof.
Rapunzel stares at her sister's displeased face, her concern growing over her little sister's pessimistic attitude that she had been showing since yesterday "You sound disturbed, are you alright?" Rapunzel mutters, Azazel nods letting out a tired yawn.
"Yes, yes, yes, yes. I'm fine. Just tired" Azazel explains resting her head on her knee once again.

"Wasn't Azazel supposed to be queen?" A merchant's wife murmured to her husband as they arranged the flowers for the upcoming ceremony.
"I thought Azazel was the oldest," An old lady whispered to her friend, reading the announcement of Rapunzel's proclamation on the notice board.
"Azazel always seemed more serious and responsible. Maybe something happened?" A man asked his companion, reading the announcement. His friend shrugs murmuring back to his friend "Isn't that unfair for Azazel? I mean— the Queen always bragged about Azazel becoming Queen back then"
"Maybe the king and queen think Rapunzel's better suited for public appearances. She's more cheerful"
"But Azazel has always been the one who handled the serious matters. Remember the trade dispute she resolved last year?" Another townsfolk asked recounting the things Azazel did for the kingdom.
"Well, that means Rapunzel has a lot to prove. Her sister has been helping our kingdom from travesties ever since she was 10!" A woman fumed placing her hands on her hips, many agreed making theories about the Kingdom's decision.
The chatter and whispers of the crowd got louder and louder as they gave their opinions on the matter.
"Azazel saved our kingdom from collapsing and she wasn't even Queen yet!"
"Maybe it's favoritism that made them choose Rapunzel instead"
"The poor child was groomed to be the ruler of Fleurmont and they chose Rapunzel instead?"
An old man loudly hit his cane on the ground, diverting the townsfolk's attention to him "Stop this bickering and whining! The eldest sibling is the one who will inherit the throne, and that is the decision that has been made after years of tradition. This is a matter of honor, duty, and loyalty, not some emotional nonsense!" The old man bellowed scolding the townsfolk that were discussing the Royal's decision.
From afar, Azazel stood by an alleyway. Eavesdropping on what people thought of the news — this predicament she was placed under.
"... Bullshit." A low hiss escaped from the young princess' mouth, watching the crowds of people gather around the notice board. Azazel turned her attention away from the sight, leaving the alleyway she hid in and then walking down the streets passing through people who were helping with the preparations for the proclamation.
People hanging up banners and streamers with the Kingdom's logo, gardeners trimming the bushes in a certain shape, and a group of musicians rehearsing.
All of this for Rapunzel's proclamation, Azazel passes through them pulling her hood up and hiding her face from everyone. She passes through the notice board near the Kingdom's gate, stopping in her tracks and walking to the notice board. Amongst the countless information placed on the board, one caught Azazel's eye "Prince Average... Gone. Where had the young obnoxious prince gone?" She rips the headline off the notice board, taking a moment to read the news contents.
"...The young prince disappeared after F7 leader, Merlin had thrown him off a stone bridge while he was in a cursed monstrous form" Azazel reads walking out of the kingdom holding the paper she ripped off the notice board, passing by the guards and then walking through the Kingdom's bridge "As of now, his whereabouts are unknown but it is speculated that he was put under a curse by a witch says some passersby who have claimed to have seen the young prince" she paused in her track, eyebrow raised staring at the statement she just read questioning the new's validity and wondering what had Average gotten himself into.
"What the hell did this buffoon do now..." She sighed shoving the news into her satchel, still questioning what she just read but alas, she decided to throw the disappointing but not surprising news to the back of her mind.
Oh well, she'll try to visit him another day to check up on him.
She needed to cool off first.
