| 014 : Romantic? That's ridiculous
Excited and nervous-that's what Azazel felt right now. She didn't understand why her movements were so impatient, rapid, and... enthusiastic. Was it because she had curled her hair differently than before, risking painful burns from the curling iron? Or was it her outfit? A deep periwinkle bodice and skirt paired with a white chemise.
Her thoughts raced as she paced through the woods like a madwoman, each step crushing twigs and reducing fallen leaves to dust. She intertwined her hands and rubbed her fingers together, her face taking on a serious expression as she tried to figure out why she was feeling this way. She had never felt this tense before-especially around Jack.
She didn't have a good reason to begin with.
It had just been mildly frustrating from the moment she woke up and started getting ready. She had been stuck in this state, wondering what outfit suited today best, how her makeup should look, how Jack was doing, and whether he would arrive safely at their spot.
"This is ridiculous..." She stopped in her tracks, pinched the bridge of her nose, and let out a deep sigh. Crossing her arms, she turned her head and caught a faint glimpse of yellow, blue, and green in the distance. "Oh." Her eyes lit up. She brushed nonexistent dirt and left off her clothes before clearing her throat.
From Jack's perspective, it was the exact same story. He had woken up excited, gotten ready in the bathroom, and wondered how Azazel was doing.
"I wonder if she's getting ready this early, too," he muttered, staring at his princely reflection. He applied gel to his comb and carefully ran it through his hair, shaping it with his hand into its iconic swirl. His curse was a nuisance, but with Azazel, it would be broken in a jiffy.
"Good afternoon, Azazel. Am I late?" Jack asked.Azazel shook her head. "Not really. I just arrived." It was a lie-she had been there 30 minutes early because she couldn't wait.
Jack smiled and nodded, pulling out a bouquet of pink camellias. Azazel's eyes widened, taken aback by the gesture. "What's this for?" she asked, hesitant to take it.
"Well, someone as precious as you deserves flowers."
Her cheeks flushed as Jack offered the bouquet, and she took it into her hands. She stared at his choice of flowers: pink camellias. Azazel suddenly recalled her lessons on the language of flowers-long lectures that had felt unnecessary then, but proved vital now.
Pink camellias were used to express longing, often sent to a loved one who was away. Beyond that well-known meaning, they also represented admiration, affection, and appreciation.
Azazel looked back at Jack, who was staring up at her, eager for her reaction. She held the flowers closer. They can express a yearning for someone's presence in both platonic and romantic relationships...She managed a faint smile and blurted out, "Thank you, you really shouldn't have."Jack shook his head, placing a hand over his heart. "Oh no, I insist. You deserve everything, Azazel!"
She stood there, her mind buffering as she processed what he meant.
"You're kidding."
"Blasphemy."
She raised an eyebrow and took a step back. "Really?"Jack stood by his words.
"Really."
Azazel turned to the side and giggled, hiding her face behind the bouquet. Jack's eyes remained fixed on her. Only her.
Gosh, she's perfect for lifting my curse, Jack thought.
'Oh, he's so sweet' Azazel thought.
