In a span of two years, Taehyung's popularity and fame soared higher than ever. His projects were nonstop, something he had been thankful for in order to keep himself busy.
He remained the face and ambassador of some of the most famous luxury brands alongside his best friends, Jin and Jimin.
"Hey, Tae. Have you finished unpacking?" Jimin asked, eyeing the suitcase leaning on the bed frame.
It was still unopened, no sign of being unpacked.
"You still haven't, right?"
There was a tone of disbelief in Jimin's voice which had Taehyung smiling apologetically.
"I lost track of the time, sorry." Taehyung responded, lifting the book in his hands.
He had been hooked on reading Your Eyes Tell, a book of an unknown author that he had come across in a bookstore in Seoul last month.
"We need to be at the dining area by eight, you know." Jimin informed as he sat next to Taehyung on his bed.
They just arrived in Paris for a fashion event. Recently, their agency closed an agreement with a company in France, one of the leading brands in the fashion industry, which gave them the opportunity to be part of the show.
"I know. I'll read one last chapter before following you guys." Taehyung promised.
A long defeated sigh left Jimin's lips as he nodded in resignation.
"Better get your ass moving, Tae. We have a long weekend ahead of us. No time for dilly dally."
Jimin gave him a pat on the shoulder before leaving the room.
As Taehyung was once again enveloped in a calming silence, his eager eyes followed the words on the book, letting himself be lost in a world far from his own.
During his free time, he found refuge in the pages of books, drowned himself in the beauty of words, and intoxicated his senses with its addictive scent.
Reading surprisingly gave him peace, something he had been missing since time immemorial.
"I better stop before getting to the good part." He murmured, hastily closing the book and placing it atop the round table.
He knew he would not be able to stop himself from reading more chapters once he started the good part which he sensed was fast approaching in a page or two.
Grabbing his phone, Taehyung headed to the dining area where his friends await.
They already had their plates filled with various dishes when he arrived.
"We almost finished without you." Jimin pouted, quickly standing to get him a plate.
"You should've started."
"As if we're leaving you behind."
Taehyung smiled, uttering his thanks as Jimin handed him a plate full of his favorites.
"Are you all ready for tomorrow?" Namjoon asked.
The five of them are seated around a huge table near the ice sculpture center piece in the dining hall.
"I'm ready and excited." Jin replied, eyes shining as the lights from the chandelier reflected in them.
"Don't even get me started. I doubt I'd sleep tonight." Jimin seconded.
"How about we grab a coffee after this?" Taehyung suggested.
"Really, Tae? Coffee when all we need is proper sleep?" Jimin asked, flabbergasted.
"Why not?"
"I'll pass." Jimin and Jin uttered in unison.
"Fine. I'll go grab one myself." Taehyung beamed, planning to have a good read in the café just across their hotel.
"Don't be out too late. We're early tomorrow." Namjoon reminded.
"Copy that."

It was around 10 pm when Taehyung head out for a drink. In his hand was the book he could not stop from reading.
As he entered Café Méricourt, he did not fail to appreciate its magnificent interior. The architectural styles of buildings in Paris are truly praiseworthy.
"Good evening! For how many?" The attendant welcomed him with a smile.
"For one." Taehyung responded as he was immediately guided to a table near the window.
"What will this gentleman have?" The attendant asked, readying his notes.
"I'll have a café crème, please."
After getting his order, the attendant wished him a great night before handing his order to the counter.
Taehyung quickly opened his book to read where he left off. The whole café was a perfect place to read as it was quiet and peaceful aside from the occasional jingling of door chimes when someone enters which was barely a bother.
His delicate fingers swift through the pages, eyes glued on every word.
It was just a typical romance novel about star-crossed lovers who kept on battling fate to be together.
However clichéd the plot was, Taehyung was hooked the moment he came across it. Somehow, he felt the desperation of the characters to stay in love despite everything they went through.
"A love that's built around trust is a love bound to last." Taehyung read, gliding his fingers on the words.
"But for how long?" He stopped, feeling a lump in his throat when the female lead in the story asked her lover that simple yet deep question.
"Forever." Taehyung whispered.
"Your lips cannot hide the truth in your eyes. Your eyes tell me all your lies."
As he continued, the sudden jingling of the door chimes got his attention. He tore his gaze from the book, the last line still ringing in his head when his gaze met those familiar eyes that never once lied.
Those eyes that held a bit of surprise from such an unexpected encounter.
Those eyes that softened as he held him captive in his gaze.
In the midst of the silence, only their eyes communicate...
...for their eyes could tell what their lips failed to utter.
Hello, Jungkook.
Hello, Taehyung.
