Riley Voelkel as Freya (cause why not)
Kelly's POV
It finally came time for my tryout routine. I announced who I was and told them what routine I was preforming.
The second the music started, I felt free. I could feel my body gliding on it's own. I moved with the steadiness and power of a hungry lioness who is leading her hunt. Yet I remain to have the elegance of a royal princess dancing in a ballroom. I finished my routine and ending up preforming the last part perfectly.
Once the judges excused me, I went over to go see what Freya was doing. I found her sitting on the ground plucking some strands of grass and throwing them elsewhere.
"I'm assuming you did amazing, little miss captain-to-be." She said, acknowledging my presence.
I sighed. I knew sooner or later she would've made a remark about me going to be picked as captain. It wasn't that she meant the nickname be an insult. It's just that it's now our senior year and that means I could get picked to be team captain. Almost everyone automatically assumed I was getting picked, but I'm not so sure. Yeah, I was pretty good and was told I'm a natural born leader, but I don't know if I had what it takes to be captain of over 50 teens. It's kind of scary honestly. Nearly everyone is expecting me to be picked and I don't know what will happen if I don't.
"How many times do I have to tell you? It's not certain that I'm going to get chosen as team captain."
"It's pretty obvious Kel. You're like the best person on our squad. Not to mention you're also famous. There's no way another senior can be picked over you." I groaned and rolled my eyes. "Hey, speaking of famous, there's news that Kingsley Kurtis moved down to Texas for a new job and they might be attending Skyline."
"Who's that?" I asked her.
She looked at me like I was an idiot. "Dude, the famous singer/songwriter from New York that everyone has been talking about. They even won a Grammy Award at the age of 16. Not to mention they're also a MMA fighter in their downtime. Some say that Kingsley is so good at fighting that they should stop being a musician and go pro in the UFC instead."
"Hey, uh, they? Are they Non Binary?" I asked cautiously, not wanting to cross a line.
"well, genderfluid specifically. They actually go by any pronouns, but I usually use 'they' cause it's non gender confirming." She told me.
"Wow they sure seem like something else." I said. I knew I was pretty known, but no where near that popular. This was a celebrity for crying out loud.
"Yeah..." Freya starts, but stops short. Her tone tells me that she's thinking of saying something, but she doesn't know if she should say it. "You know, the way you described that mystery girl you met in the airport is very similar to how Kingsley looks."
The thought of the girl flashes back into my mind. Freya did say that the celebrity was from New York, and the girl did seem to have a strong East Coast accent. It could've been from Maryland or Massachusetts, but I knew that each one of those still had a specific accent even if they sounded the same.
I couldn't deny the fact that the girl did have the accent of a New Yorker, but there was no way they were the same. I'm sure that teen sensation was a little bit nicer then that idiotic flirt. Besides, Freya said they were genderfluid and I referred to the stranger as 'girl'. I'm pretty sure that they would've said something about them being genderfluid if they were the celebrity.
"Nah, there's no way. Whoever that famous celebrity is, I'm sure they're not as self-centered as that horny jerk."
I told me myself that too , but honestly, I didn't fully believe it.
