Kingsley's POV

The day went by as usual as it could when you're someone like me. Word had gotten out about what happened between me and Kelly, again. However, everyone only heard about the fight, not when we reconciled, so they were all pretty much stepping on eggshells when we were getting along perfectly fine. It was actually pretty funny when we came back into the gym smiling at each other. I suppose it didn't help that we didn't actually tell anyone, save for Mr. Steinhold, that we weren't fighting anymore, but oh well.

I survived Homecoming Day. Now I just have to survive the ceremony and the dance.

I sigh as I look at myself in the mirror, adjusting the length of my black suspenders. Outside of my dressing room, I heard the shouts of all the other guys getting ready as well.

The student council had said that all of us candidates would be getting dressed in the dressing rooms used for the drama club. Since we were separated by king and queen candidates, I was put over in the guy's area.

I honestly would've been fine changing with the guys, I wouldn't be taking my bra off or anything and I've already seen plenty of dicks in my life, both literally and metaphorically. But I do like that the guys were still considerate of me and asked if I wanted a separate room to get dressed. I was glad they at least asked, well most of them, and I figured it would just be less trouble if I agreed, so here I was.

I had just finished adjusting my suspenders when I heard a knock on my door. Ah, that must be the rest of my outfit, I thought. Since my vest, blazer, and tie were specially ordered to match the rest of the King candidates, it came separate from the rest of my outfit, which I already had in my closet. I'm certain I have a much higher quality suit in my closet already, but it's a tradition for all the King candidates to have a matching vest, blazer, and tie.

I walked over to the door and opened it, not expecting what I saw, or rather, who.

"Hey..." Kelly said sheepishly with a tiny wave of her hand.

"Uh, what are you...?" I trailed off. Partially in confusion, partially because of how she looked, but mostly in confusion.

"I know I'm not supposed to be over here, but all the other girls were just getting ready and I didn't trust any of the guys."

"What the fuck are you talking about?" I asked, confusion even more apparent on my face.

Her face dropped slightly, realizing that the only thing she was doing was confusing me further.

"Oh, yeah... No, it's no big deal. I just got my zipper stuck and I needed someone to zip it up," She replied, her cheeks turning a light shade of red.

"You really couldn't find anyone over in the girl's wing to do this?" I asked, my eyebrow raising in amusement.

"No, I couldn't, and stop looking at me like that it's not funny!" Kelly exclaimed, strapping her foot down in frustration. I had to admit, it was pretty cute to see her like this.

I chuckled lightly and smiled at her. "I mean, it's a little funny."

She huffed and crossed her arms in annoyance. "Just shut up and help me."

I laughed and held up my hands in mock surrender. "Yes ma'am."

Kelly stepped into my room and I moved to close the door behind her. I turned back to her and watched as she stood still for a few seconds, taking in the look of the room.

It was a pretty small room, not much bigger than what an average bedroom would be. There was a small closet to our left that was closed. I was tempted to see what was in it earlier, but I figured it wouldn't be anything more than some props and outfits. To our right, pieces of furniture were lined against the wall. A small couch and one chair with a footrest faced us, the patterning telling me they were pretty old, still comfortable though. Lastly, straight ahead stood a chair slightly pulled outwards and a desk mounted into the wall. Lights encased the glass mirror that was fixed right above the desk.
