Kelly's POV

"SHE SAID WHAT?!"

I cringed at Freya's loud yell in response to me telling her, Madi, and Marcel what had happened with Kingsley.

"Yeah... " I said, a little bit frightened of how mad Freya looked.

"I'm sorry, but you're telling me that she saved you and then used that against you?" Madi chimed in, looking just as mad as Freya.

"Yep. I mean, she told me I was 'prying into her past' when all I did, more or less, was ask why she was being so cryptic." I told the three teens standing around my hospital bed.

The memory of our heated exchanged was fresh in my mind, albeit it was only yesterday when that happened. I don't even know what happened. Everything was going so good and then she started to be cold.

God, why is she so confusing? I was so close to breaking down that barrier. That wall that she puts up with everyone else. But then she just closed herself off to me the second I tried to learn more about her. She wants to complaining that I don't understand her. Well, how am I supposed to understand her when she won't let me? I'm not a psychic for Christ's sake.

"-Are you even listening?"

I was brought out of my thoughts by Madi snapping her fingers in front of me. Crap, I forgot they were here. I thought. I cleared my throat.

"Uh, yeah. Of course I was..." I said, which was an obvious lie.

"So I was saying,"Marcel starts. "That Kingsley has never liked people asking about her past. There's of... hurt there and she's too stubborn to talk about it. You didn't necessarily do anything wrong, it's just that her past has always been a touchy subject she's avoided, even with those who were there with her. So,aybe the next time you two talk, just be patient. She'll open up eventually if you just give her the time to."

I looked at Marcel and saw that he was looking at me with this kind look in his eyes. He smiled gently, like me he didn't want to upset me by saying that.

"So, I didn't do anything wrong?" I asked.

Marcel chucked. "Well, that depends on what you said." He replied, smirking at me.

"Yeah, what did you say to her?" Madi asked, jumping in on the convention.

"I asked her what she meant when she said something about people thinking she abuses her status, or something like that. Then when I asked her to explain she just kept giving me very vague answers and I got annoyed by that and we started arguing again." I told them.

"Okay... but there has to be more for her to go off like that. Kingsley might have s temper, but she's pretty good at keeping it in check. Did you say anything else to her?"

I looked away from them and played with the bed sheets uncomfortably.

"Well, I did say that she didn't get a private life because she's a celebrity."

Marcel let out a big breath of air and raised his eye brows.

"That would do it alright."

"How? She's been more calm with harsher things than that." Freya said.

I was honestly thinking the same thing.

Marcel scratched the back of his neck.

"Well, Kingsley has always hated people judging her for her reputation. More so, she hated when people wanted to act like they knew her because of what they had seen on the news and shit. Most people, at least when I was still in Ney York, either saw Kingsley as an idol or a criminal. So they treated her as such. What you need to understand is that Kingsley wants people to understand who she truly is, no reputation involved. So when you start judging her and making assumptions based off of her reputation, she sees that as you seeing nothing more than the Kingsley Kurtis that's portrayed on the TV."
